Will this combine the functions of CladDVD/SmartRipper and TMPGENC in one easy to use application or will we still need to rip the VOB files to the hard drive?

Yes, you can convert your DVD movie to CD-media directly and don't need to rip the VOB files to the HD.

And will we have full control over the final mpg from the first click? I am thinking bitrate, resolution, system1/vcd, sound options, etc?
Will it be available as a trial version and is it going to merge with Alcohol 120 or stay separate?

At the moment the only information we can give you is that Ice Alcohol will be available early next week as a preview program,
Ice Alcohol is not developed by the main developer of Alcohol 120% but it is develeoped within the Alcohol Software Team.
So there will be a purchase price,( not known at this time ) as a stand alone software, once the program is released in final version. Although saying that, alot of the functions will be incorperated into Alcohol120% and the plug-ins will be free to paid registerd users.
