did anyone use this program before? if yes could you tell me if it's good or bad? it said this is a copyprotection detection scanner that can show what kind of protection is used on a disc. It will provide you with the right settings for CloneCD, so you can make a working copy of the disc. Well as the information says so I think it is good idea to have this detection thing scan the cd first and then choose the right settings to burn on Alcohol cool.gif
anyways here is the link to dl it ClonyXXL Download - DownSeek.com
and here for the latest version too bad it's only in german sad.gif

Ensure that you select in options, reading bad (or defect) sectors, to detect laserlocks,etc...
you can also ClonyXXL and Prot_version (to know version of SecuRomNew and SafeDisk)

It never worked properly for me, lots of wrong diagnoses, inability to work with SCSI drives, ASPI initialization errors... in short I dont trust it.

same really as the new version of clony is great. You are able to scan for secuROM without having to scan the HD. I think it's a good little tool. Just load cloney get the protection then load Alcohol, then your sorted.

We have over 160 games and their protections in the database at the moment its worth checking for your particular game there, if you have a game and know its protection and its not in the list then just use one of the contact emails to let us know so that it can be added.. We update this list frequently so its always worth checking out when you have a game and your not sure of what protection it has.

Plus on this latest version of clony you can automatically transfer the settings directly to Alcohol like you could on the old version to clonecd

No it cant, because of a German Law coming soon this fuction from Clony that used to work with CloneCD has been removed there are user tools where you can set up your favourite burning programs and start then from Clony but no settings from clony will be sent to the programs the only thing it will do is tell you which Copy Protection is used.

All these "laws" are starting to get rather annoying, If everyone stopped purchasing copyprotected cd based software then I bet the song would change rather quickly.

Autobot, do you know before buy a game if it's protected? Well, if you check posts, but.. if nobody buys games?? sad.gif I usually buy cheap games..

All you are saying a lot of peoply is troying ot do with music, trying protected CDs to has a logo or something to say that they're protected.

What i can't understand is why its illegal to be able to transfer your settings automatically but you can still find out what protection is on a certain disc using clony and then set up an application like Alcohol to copy your disc.

If thats the case then surely the next step is for the law to ban all kind of 1:1 copying even if you own the original or not.

This is totally stupid as many top games out now are priced £25 upwards and not to be able to make legitimate backup of something you own is just crazy.

NOLF 2 is CDN$64.95 (equates to about US$45.00) and Hitman 2 about the same. Neverwinter Nights was over CDN$80.00 when it came out. You learn to be careful what you buy. wink.gif
