Ok now I will explain how someone can lay a game with protection starforce 3.3,3.4 and so on...
This way that a will describe abstains a lot from a simple emulation of cd which probably will exist in the future. I don’t know, maybe you already know that or I will help you.
First you should know how starforce functions. For its success, it is depend on the installation of other drives on the functional system at the same time with the title in which used .With the implementation of title, drives are activated and undertake these, the reading of cd-rom. The reason for which is achieved this protection, is the existence of this drivers. Well a way to play the game:
First you must have two computers. Run the alcohol 120% and make an image with datatype starforce 1/2/3. You have to create an image file in our HDD with low dpm speed! And then create a mini-image as you already know...
http://forum.alcohol...showtopic=13836
Install the game to the computer which you want to play the game and then mount the mini-image you have just created to the other computer through the (lan) or another connection. Unplug all devices (cd/dvd) to the computer which you have install and you want to play the game. After that try to play it from the same computer which you installed the game and you mounted the mini-image. It will play!!
The reason which the game will play is that the drives that are installed delay the access in the appliances of ide/atapi computer, and they check the time of reading of appliances where is found the disk, concerning those time that recognizes the protection as original.( if exist differences and divergences the title just not function)But if the cd(the image)found it to another computer and no to computer which the image search the .exe. the protection cannot delay the appliance where it has been placed and consequently it’s considers that it’s the original.
Sorry for my English I hope you will understand.

If development team find a way to delay the time of reading how to say it to make something like the above and then to play the game.

so does this also work with dvd games?

and could u post it like this so its easier to follow? (at least for me..)
  • First you must have 2 computers.
  • Run alcohol 120% and make an image with starforce datatype at computer A.
  • Create an image file in your HDD at low speed! at computer A (say the file name of the image is game.mds and game.mdf)
  • then transfer this image to computer B into a folder of your choice (for example c:\shared_games)
  • on computer B share the folder named shared_games
  • fire up alcohol on computer A
  • go to mount and enter the location of the shared_games folder (i.e. \\computer B\shared_games\game.mds)
  • now the image should be mounted on computer A
ps. i'm not talking about your english!!. just make more paragraphs or lists..

ow i haven't tried this, i'll try in couple of hours..

I wish I could get the 1 computer version of the trick to work sad.gif

All I get is the box wanting cd key again, and again etc..

I followed all the instructions, but I think the protection just doesn't like my computer..
The game I'm trying to backup is Medieval Lords, I say backup but I can't play with the CD either smile.gif I've had this problem before with some versions of SafeDisc protection, and Image file is the only way I can play.

Any help will be appreciated smile.gif

I think I followed the directoions perfectly. I am trinyg to make an image of TrackMania.

I started the image maker. I selected StarForce 1/2/3.

I selected 1x as teh read speed.

I selected my local desktop as the palce to put the image files.

I hit start. It asked me what speed to do the geometry reads at and I selected 1x. The images finsihed being made.

I then copied it to a file server in my network, deleted the local version of the files and mounted the image from teh network share.

I sintalled the game and rebooted and when I tried to launch hte game, it would not detect the CD.

I know I am a new user at this, so I am hoping that I missed something. I am coming to this program from VirtualCD because I need something that can make the hard backups.

I've got 100 MBit.

I'm not sure where I messed up though. I created the image onto my desktop, then moved it to a shared srive on my server.

But you are saying to mount it from My Documents?
