Have a look in the Application Event Viewer for a possible cause. Where there any error messages when you installed?

Rightclick on "My Computer"> select "Management" in the pop-up menu> click on "Events"> click on "Application"> look for any red circles with a white "x" inside them, they are error messages that may have to do with your problem.

Thank you
but the only warning message I receive prior installation is that alcohol will update the scsi pass through direct setup. I don't know what this means
Any ideas? Thanks

Not that I am aware of but remeber installing a version of Nvidia with starforce in it in the past.W ell this is more than eight months ago
Why? Any known conflict? How would I identify such drivers?
And How could I best remove alcohol that is removing drivers as well so nexttime I am sure no conflict persists.
BTW my nvidia is version is 8.4.2.1
thanks

Nvidia doesn´t have StrarForce. StarForce is a copy protection software. It is a russian company and as such widely used in Russia. StarForce has been known to have conflicts with the drivers of alcohol. Do a search on your pc to know if you have StarForce installed.

Have a look at your Windows\System32\Drivers folder and check if a driver named prosync1.sys exists, if it is then you have installed a starforce protected game and you have the Starforce drivers installed in your system. They'll remain even if you uninstall the game, you must use a special tool in order to update or remove them, you can find it in their site www.starforce.ru.

Try uninstalling Alcohol and reinstalling it again after rebooting.

looking at other posters I thinkmore and more things are pointingout at SPTD as the root cause of the problem since my post also refers to initial install of this drivers
Ao to whom does this SPTD.sys belong to? And why the warning messages of debuggers so on and so forth?

SPTD (SCSI Pass Through Direct) is a product of Duplex Secure and you can find all the available information about it at www.duplexsecure.com.
Have you tried the suggested reinstalling of Alcohol?

Yes I have and not successful at all still get the same message before the installation begins about SPTD may be debugged by something on my pc that may cause the application no to respond properly and so on.
Problem is that I have no idea what debuggers alcohol is talking about.

This message is just a warning that Alcohol can not work together with kernel debugers and it is normaly displayed before the installation of SPTD. Just ignore it and reinstall Alcohol.
