You can use Bart's process with small mods to create an ISO that you burn with Alcohol, or you can follow the directions to the letter and just burn the CD with whatever free tool is in his bag of tricks.

Well, Nlite is my
program of choice when it comes to slip-streaming
service pack into Win XP.
You will need to own a legal version
of Win XP (obviously) and you will
want to have the Full Install version
of the service pack.
But, DO NOT EXTRACT THE FULL INSTALL!
Just leave it in it's downloaded state in a folder
of your choice.
Also, you DON"T NEED TO MAKE AN ISO OF WIN XP!
Nlite will read the Win XP Disk from your CD/DVD Drive.
Here is a link to Nlite:

I have used it, and can attest it is Great.
It will allow you to make a bootable .ISO.
Then, you can use Alcohol's Image Burning Wizzard to
make a bootable Win XP Disk, already at Service Pack 2!
Hope this helps, it is easy to use.
