Any ideas? the program just reports the disc as "Unformatted dvd" and gives a cancel button.

What are you trying to backup (Game, Name of the Game, Copy protection, original on cd or dvd)?
How did you make it (settings)?

You have to "erase" (format) the disc first. Then it will let you write to an RW.
