Alright so I'm not sure if you need the system report as this might be basic but I looked through the FAQ and online manual and googled around with no luck. Basically I've made a backup of Final Fantasy IX and well at the last part and last disc of the game its not running the FMV sequence (The PS2 just winds up and then slows down, screen turns black but I can still pause for some odd reason)

The problem here I think is that I burned the disc at 8x speed. I'm thinking 4x or 2x will make this problem go away but the problem I'm having is that when i pop in the media, get to the image burning option, and then select the write speed... it won't let me go lower than 8x. I tried to change that in the options under the Playstation CD settings but still wouldn't let me burn slower than 8x.

So is there something I'm missing or is it the discs? These Sonys' can burn anywhere from 1-48x and my burner can burn anything at max speed.

Thanks again,

Craig.

Its possibly a media problem, have you tried with another brand of media

I tried with Memorex but they can't burn PS games as they aren't good enough quality. I tried burning on CdburnerXP pro and it did get it to 2x but doesn't burn all the files like Alcohol does so I don't want to use it.

Firmware also has an impact on burning speeds. Sometimes when you upgrade/downgrade your firmware, speeds become available/unavailable.

Is the disk you made with ImgBurn playable to the end? Also, as zamiel says, it is possible that your drive doesn't support lower speeds, updating its firmware maybe helpful if this is the case- or just use another drive.

No its not playable to the end, it stops right before the cut scene and the disc winds up and slows down. I'm trying to find firmware updates right now but I'm sure this driver can burn cd-r's at min and max speed, I just bought it like a month ago. http://www.newegg.co...N82E16827131039

Sorry, I started replying to the wrong topic. blush.gif Anyway, except for updating your firmware( try the manufacturer's site) if you were able to burn the Memorex disks at lower speeds then there must be other "suitable" brands also. Perhaps you should try with these Memorex disks too, they mustn't be so bad.

No they are really bad, I tried the first 5 and they all had power calibration errors but I will try verbatim when I get some more.
