I've used A-Ray and Protection_ID to scan, but it shows nothing for protection. When disk is inserted, it has that familiar "spinning disk pointer" as in Securom protected games. Does anyone know for sure, or is it too new a game for these softwares to detect the latest versions of whatever it is?

Scan the install directory instead of the disc itself. I'm almost certain it's SecuROM, as others have posted about it in the DTools forum.

Yup, you're right. It's Securom 7. Thanks, now I'll just have to wait for my new Lite-on drive whistling.gif rolleyes.gif I've scanned the directory with A-Ray and added the protection type and version to the game protection list as well, for those who wish to know right away, it was shown as SecuROM v7.00.00.0885

Actually, that's a misreporting of versions. The later SecuROM 7 versions aren't reported right in the current version of PID. It's fixed in the new version, but it's still in beta and not available yet.

Not to mention that A-Ray scanner except for being outdated it totaly misreports the SecuROM 7 versions. Please use ProtectionID instead.

oops.gif I didn't know that, my fault. I'll find the protection_ID and find out what it'll say.

I've never used Alcohol 120 to copy a game DVD before (plenty of CD's), and I don't see any options for the copy protection type in the copy DVD wizard. I know I'm a couple minor revisions behind, but want to make a backup of my MOH Airborne DVD ...

If I upgrade my Alcohol software, will I see an option for copy protection type for DVD's ? Or is there some other process I need to go through ? (I understand I may need to go get a new DVD burner with better capabilities, too).

thx ... coldron

What you're referring to a datatype profiles to quick-select the necessary settings for each copy protection. Such a feature has not yet been implemented for DVD media. For Safedisc or similar copy protections, there are no options to select. For SecuROM, Starforce, and a few others, just select DPM on High precision with maximum read speed.
