System Report was saved as the attach file"report.txt"
Describe your problem here:
Hello,
I have the trial version of Alcohol120% and will buy a product key soon, and I recently burned an .iso image to a CD-R. It took less than 3 minutes to burn. Of course with this small time it used a high burning speed - it said the average burning speed was about 40x in the after burn report. Problem is I want to burn at lower speeds; to avoid errors and because many of the discs I make will be used in a system with an old 2x CD-ROM drive, and it has trouble reading discs which are burned at a high rate. So I would like to burn my discs at about 4x-8x, my Sony CD-RW recorder burns from 4x-52x.
Anyways, My problem is I want to burn this .iso image at a lower speed and make copies of different discs - "at lower burning speeds" - but I am unable to change the speed settings anywhere in alcohol120%. Yes, I found the places in options to set this and, I set it to 4x or 8x then when I go to burn it burns at 40x?!?! Also, in the tab next to where you set the burning speed it always shows the "current burning speed" as 40x-52x, dispite my much lower burning speed setting. I've tried to set commands to windows control also - no go.
Please tell me how to use the lower burning speed settings in Alcohol120?! Do I need to buy a product key to do this?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Sincerely,
Noel Roberts (ovalbugmann in the Alcohol forums)
P.S. Yes I can burn at 4x using the WindowsXP included basic CD recording software when I set it to do so in the properties tab of the Sony drive - it is currently set to 4x -but 120% just burns it at 40x+ anyway although I set it to record at no more than 8X. (And I know WinXP's software burns at 4x -'cause it takes 26minutes! - verses 3 minutes for Alcohol120%)
Why is this so hard to set 120% to burn lower XP - does this, as I ask it to and I have no trouble playing these discs in the old 2x drive, but I do have trouble playing Alcohols 48x burned discs in the old 2x drive.
HELP!
Please tell me how to set the Alcohol software to do this - it is not a hardware or win XP problem, because of what I just said.
Thanks in advance for any and all help guys, I'm wondering if buying the product key willallow me to select a lower speed?

Also in the system report your drives are mentioned as not supported by Alcohol:
It may help if you send an email to support_team@alcohol-soft asking support for them.

I have read numerous posts here with people asking for tech help and the second post is just this:
http://forum.alcohol...showtopic=23848
Not wanting to slow a responders' answer to my question I read the thread above first and then posted question WITH the required system report, as per the clear quote below:
There is no attachment system on this board, that I have available to me, so I posted it in the thread here - what else can I do to follow this proceedure then?
I don't like my posts being butchered, especially when I am just following board directions, please change thread: http://forum.alcohol...showtopic=23848 to reflect current posting steps of NOT putting a system report with a problem. Now, if these rules have changed and so that new people like me don't have to learn by making mistakes, let me know how to get my system report uploaded here for people to use to help me, ok?
Yes, dvd and cd datatype settings are in the options tabs.
Yes, while burning this .iso with the Image Burning Wizard, I set the speed to 8x and it still burned it at an average of 40x the post report said and took less than 3 minutes - so it definitely was not burned at 8x. The resulting disk is hard for my system to read and takes a long time to show the files in the image. It was just a Public Domain homebrew ROM set, for the Atari Jaguar CD - a data CD. Both my internal optical drives are CD-RW/DVD-ROMS and will burn at 2x or 4x speeds with several other programs.
Yeah in the image burning wizard next to where you set the speed that information? tab said this:
52x
OK, I will go-ahead and do another burn of this .iso soon and get the burnlog and post it here but I don't see any way to do any attachements to my posts?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, thank you for the offer of help! - I really appreciate it because after this trial I WILL be purchasing the $50 120% product key, because I like this software, have heard many good things about it, and work with CDs a lot. Also, I will have to find that Alcohol 120% supported drives' list so I can pick one up to use the software fully and to be able to hopefully burn slower.
I didn't mean to double post but I was frustrated and just wanted to get an answer and thought more people would see it. I realize that it is you moderators that will likely be able to help me most, since you know the software better and are here more than others, so I really did not want to start off on the wrong foot with any problems with people here!
Much thanks,
Noel (ovalbugmann)

Yeah, I contacted them and they just said what you did - that neither of my drives are supported.
This part of my first post was from the email I sent them talking about my attached system report:
System Report was saved as the attach file"report.txt"
Describe your problem here:
Now I need to find that supported drives list and buy one! - Thanks

Instead of bying a new drive right now you can wait for support of your drives being added in the next version of Alcohol if you want so.
