I'm using alcohol 52% free edition and I get the following error message when I try to add a virtual drive: "Unable to add adapter. Device problem 39. ACPI function in the BIOS must not be turned off."

I have SPTD 1.55.

Hello, have you checked whether or not ACPI is enabled in your BIOS.

Try uninstalling Alcohol and reinstalling it after rebooting. If it doesn't help you can also uninstall SPTD( and Alcohol) and then reinstall it( and Alcohol) after rebooting with the standalone SPTD installer/uninstaller from www.duplexsecure.com.

Tried uninstalling alcohol and reinstalling after reboot; didn't work.

Trying uninstalling both SPTD and Alcohol and reinstalling both after reboot now.

Alcohol-Soft does not produce the SPTD component of the virtual drive. Have you tried posting in www.duplexsecure.com forums to see if they have a solution to your issue?

Do you receive the error before or after installing SPTD?

Also have a look at these related topics, the solutions that the users found may really be helpfull( perhaps the most important is to disable the iSCSI service, that's something that both solutions have in common):

I receive the error after installing SPTD. I also have iSCSI disabled, but I'll take a look at those threads.

http://forum.alcohol...vice problem 39 <-- this link seems to be broken.

Edit:
And the other link doesn't seem to reach a solution. (I saw it before when I was googling for information.)

Abou the thread that you were able to read: Do you have Alcohol installed in a local hardrive or in a newtwork one?
Also this is the last user's post of the thread that you aren't able to see:

Thank you! Another satisfied customer biggrin.gif

After following your instructions, for others who may come accross this post these are the steps I took.
  1. Stop the Starwind Service
  2. Remove the Alcohol Directory
  3. Run the SPTD installation program and choose Uninstall
  4. Reboot into Safe Mode
  5. Install SPTD 1.50, and reboot into safe mode again
  6. Install Alcohol
  7. Load Alcohol and create Virtual Drives
  8. Reboot into normal windows, finished!

Thanks again!

The only difference is that the latest version of SPTD is 1.55, just go with it.

This doesn't work either. I get the same error message in safe mode.
