Hi Guys,

Recently, I made a major mistake while trying to make a thumb drive bootable. During the selection of the drive to format, I selected my external 300G drive, and trashed it by partially formatting it with FAT12. This drive was used for backups of a lot my CD's and other stuff.

I have attempted to recover the partition using several tools, and it seems that any file allocation records have gone completely. However, I have managed to recover some files based on file signatures, but no CD image files have been found. On further investigation, I have discovered that it is possible to enter the file signatures and offsets into the recovery program database which could possibly find whatever is recoverable.

Could anyone tell me what the files signatures are for *.mdf *.mds files are together with their offsets?

I have searched the web, but the information is thin on the ground. Indeed, if you know the file signatures of any of the other popular disk image formats too, it would be of great help to me.

Thank you in anticipation

I'm not sure whether or DEV department will be forthcoming with this information, however it may be easier to just remake the images again off the original discs.
