I'm afraid no firmware upgrade will help you as your drive does not support rewritable discs. Your system report showed:

CODE
R-W Supported: No

Have you burned this disk in this drive or using another one?

Then this is really weird. Is the disk dirty or scratched? You must also consider the possibility of a bad burn (your copy is playing in the DVD player but you never know what could have gone wrong). By the way, if you burned this disk with Alcohol, what exact settings did you use when burning it? Was the image that you burned ripped from the original copy and was it playing in your computer when mounted to a virtual drive?

The drive in the link you provided is a Philips DVD8801, the one in your system report is not. I don't know what is happened there, but it would appear you may have not got what is in that package, perhaps a substituted drive for one reason or another.

Looking at the list of support drives: http://support.alcoh...amp;VendorName=

There seems to be a difference between what is being reported from the unit and what is listed on our website. Have you been able to erase a disc before, ever?

Well whenever i use this program called 'ConverXToDvD' (latest version) i use it on one of my DVD-RW'S after i burn a movie with this software i put the DVD-RW in my DVD Player and watch it on TV its all fine, Until bad stuff happens... After i get bored of this Movie i put it in my PC so i can erase but it won't read? its like there isn't any DVD in hear in the first place when there actually is i need to Erase this thing but the way its acting right now... i find that almost impossible. And remmeber my DVD's are fine they can be erased any time, but if i use COnvertXTodvd to burn a movie thats when the DVD is officially dead. No one knows why

DVD W DH16W1P

As zamiel said the drive in your system report isn't the DVD8801. Since we get confused as any other human being can you please help us to understand this difference?

Information is quite hard to find on this drive, but it appears it might be a cut down or oem version of an older LiteOn drive as you can see below.

Firmware: LITE-ON DVDRW LH-16W1P SL08 2007/06/21 15:53
Firmware: ATAPI DVD W DH16W1P LP21 2006/10/19 18:57

The LiteOn drive has the "R" just after the "DVD" indicating rewriteable, the ATAPI drive does not. The only reference to "rewriteablility" I could find for this drive was with CD's and not DVD's.

I guess i just have to find a DVD Player that supports dvd-r/rw erasing (its possible for DVD-R's to be erased too wink.gif
If you wanna know more get this program: ConvertXToDVD and burn an AVI and see if your DVD is still recognisable on PC
Also i will attach an image for some proof that my drive is DVD-RW Lover

Only in the case they weren't formated and just for this purpose. You can erase all the files of a multisession CD-R (they'll just won't be included in the new session's TOC) but you can't really erase it, what was written on it will remain- apparent or not.
