Hey everyone I know it has been a that you have seen a hug spam rush of posts from me smile.gif. Been dealing with a lot of home issues and its taking me away from here. That being said I have a dead burner and I have began the search for a replacement for the rom. In years past I have been a great supporter Lite-on and their drives, but in the last 2 years have other providers steped up the readablity on the current games? What I am looking for is a quiet, close to flat mat black as possible, sata, with lightscribe(yes I do use it), and lastly a solid quiet tray. I am currently looking at Sony, Samsung, and LG, if none of those drives meets the need then I will fall back to the liteon line of drives.

I hope all is well BigTy, cal me if there is anything I can help out with.

I am in the same boat, 2 of my lite-on drives are about ti bite the magial dvd-rom in the sky. The last burner I purchased of Lite-on is one of those nearing the computer graveyard. I have been thinking of going to Plextor or Sony. Let me know what you find out...

Not sure how good it's going to be for making images, but I just ordered one of these from Newegg for $159:

Blu-Ray burner *AND* HD-DVD player!

I couldn't pass that up. Even at the normal price now, it's only $179. Looking forward to it's arrival. I even got a free BD-R out of the deal, unfortunately it was the craptacular RiData. Still, a freebie is a freebie.

I love this drive I have two of them and the best I ever owned.
WD

As for my search for a DVD rom goes I picked up the Sony I had some mixed reviews on it but testing Sup Com on it right now and will report back what my findings are.

**UPDATE**

Shocking enough it was able to make a cack up of Sup Com. everyday use of the drive feels slower then my light on. I like the tray system better and the noise of teh drive is quieter than my liteons.
