Hi,

I just tried to install the latest version of Alcohol 120% (1.9.8.7612) on my new installation of Windows 7

What is happening:

First Reboot for the STPD Service
Then after reboot Windows 7 Starts Normally with a black screen.
After that, the install will happen, and Windows 7 will not show the desktop.
After any reboots whether they are hard or soft, the install window always shows up.

I cannot access the GUI, only thing I can get into is the task manager.
I would like to stop the install from trying to install everytime so I can use my computer.

Have you tried booting up in Safe Mode and use the stand alone sptd installer from www.duplexsecure.com

booting in safe mode will do the same thing, prompt for the install of Alcohol 120% and then install it, do a reboot and prompt for another install in safe mode.

Have you tried to install the SPTD driver first with its standalone installer/uninstaller from www.duplexsecure.com as zamiel suggested?

Yes, I have.
The problem now it seems that the Alcohol Install has removed explorer.exe from the startup process.
I need to remove the Alcohol Install from the startup process and add back in explorer.exe

When I try to uninstall and even remove the install program from the downloaded location and %temp% and %systemtemp% it STILL tries to install at start up, almost like a bad virus.

Alcohol cannot remove explorer from the startup process.

Are you able to boot up in Safe Mode?

If not, I think your best bet would be to contact DuplexSecure directly with the technical specs of your system and the nature of the problem and they may have a solution. The issue appears to be that the SPTD drivers (produced by DuplexSecure) are not being installed correctly and hence getting the reboot issue.

Explorer.exe isn't one of the startup programs, it's the essence of the Windows' GUI (Graphic Users Interface), if it doesn't start then your system is doomed, login in Safe Mode and try to perform a virus scan and/or use the System Restore to go back to a state that your computer was working normally. You can also try a System File Check (type sfc /scannow in the command prompt and press enter, note that you should have your Windows CD in the drive because you'll be asked to insert it if you don't). These are based on Windows XP, I know Windows Vista have more recovery options but I don't know about them, Windows 7 may have even more, you must look into this matter yourself. Of course the last resort is always a Windows repair install or a new clean install after a format.
As for SPTD, even if it isn't your main problem, try to delete the sptd.sys in the Windows\System32\drivers folder and any entries related to it in the registry, if you can't delete any entries from the registry reboot and try again changing the permissions for the key if needed.

If running "sfc /scannow" in the Run dialog box does nothing, then you may have to open a command prompt (Start->cmd) and run it from there. I know that in Vista, for example, you have to run it from a command prompt now.

his problem is most likely to be a problem that of windows 7 its self, if he is using the beta version of windows 7 that would be his problem. Microsoft offers the release candidate of windows 7 if you reformat your hard drive and install this i promise that will fix a lot of your problems (software wise that is)
