What I need is to get suggestions for a new drive that works with all Alcohol and like programs(i.e. clonecd, etc as it looks like I will have to get more than one program, depending on which PC game I want to backup) ...suggestions for the best brand and model right now for reading, writing etc these protected game dvd's and cd's I have so I can play the backups and store the masters.

I have read here that LG 1st, Plextor 2nd and then Samsung...Plextor I know used to one of the top ones but don''t make them anymore themselves. Currently using a couple older pioneers.

So would appreciate advice on what cd/dvd drive to get that will allow me the most positive and accurate results for backing up my PC games. thanks again...t

PS..not for backing up movies, just my games and not into blu ray as I don't think the PC drives for blu ray are mature enough nor low enough in cost..chuckling..t

There is no one drive that is good at everything and a drive can be different depending on the firmware version it is currently running. I personally like LiteOn drives, but that's a personal preference.

We refrain from making recommendations due to the above reason as at the end of the day, we wouldn't want users to be upset if we recommend a drive and it doesn't live up to their expectations.
