Hi,

Alcohol 52 wont let me uninstall it at all. It is not listed in the control panel remove programs module and the uninstaller throws an error saying setup couldnt validate the installation. I tried also uninstalling it manually by deleting the related keys in registry but still I am unable to completely remove it. Is there anyway to completely wipe it for sure? I have windows XP.

Thank you.

You must delete Alcohol's installation folder manually and, if you want so (caution: this may affect other programs like Daemon Tools) you can uninstall the SPTD driver with its standalone installer/uninstaller from www.duplexsecure.com. You can also search the Windows registry for any entries related to Alcohol and delete them.

This is because Alcohol is a program often blacklisted due to its (one time?) nature of being able to back up copy protected software.  I can't speak for Alcohol 52, but my Alcohol 120% install folder has an uninstall file in it - uninst.exe.  That is how I'd uninstall Alcohol 120%, then as @Charalambos indicated above SPTD can be removed manually as well.

the uninstaller throws an error saying setup couldnt validate the installation.

So this isn't the case here.

due to its (one time?) nature of being able to back up copy protected software.

Alcohol is always able to backup copy protected software, only in Windows 10 there are inherent limitations concerning this.

Hello, I have the same problem of being unable to unistall - or  use - Alcohol 52, maybe because I have switched to Windows 10. I have version 2.0.3 (build 6951).

I have tried to follow some of your suggestions, but I'm not very good at technical stuff so it's difficult.

I can't even delete the folder where Alcohol 52 is, because it says that part of it is being used (but it happens even when I switch on the computer and every window is closed). Can it be because of the annoying window that comes up since I have installed Alcohol 52 that says that I have old versions of this or that program?

Thanks for your help.

Have you set Alcohol to autostart with Windows? Have a look at the Task Manager and delete any process related to Alcohol and then delete the folder.
