I'd say Plextor.. Costs a bit more, but the UltraPlextor 40x SCSI Reader and SCSI-version of the burners really rock!
Unfortunatly I don't own them myself, but a friend of mine does.

Is LiteOn 52x24x52 really one of the best burners out, if you compare it to other 52x24x52 burners?

i like the liteon becasue mine cost 40$, 32123s about 1/2 year ago and its been perfect....well almost..the damn tray about a month ago has decided that it needs nelp somtimes when i close it....but i can put up with it. i just wish the subcode reader was more accurate but its moot at the moment as just just got a nice suprise....

as for the reader, well thats the suprise...i bought a "i/o magic" dvd player from office depot just so i can build my project pc a divix/xvid player. i expected a junk reader but instead was greated by a toshi-firmware....its the fastest reader ive personaly seen...and digests reader errors as fast as the damn thing can read.

I choose Liteon of course Plextor would be the best they always have its said that with a plex writer and reader you can burn anything, however liteons are afordable and reboxed by several comapnies, just the ones that i can think of from seeing them and installing them at Best Buy where I am a tech are Buslinks, and Verbaitms . Memorex and norcent are nec which in my humble opinion sux0rz, and tdk are not even labeled correctly. Lots of people buy the samsung, I think just because they used to have blue lights. And yamahas used to be popular because they had a usless function called tatooing. hehehe :tu:

I still love (well like is a much better term I suppose) my liteon 40 12 48, as it has done everything I have asked it to.

Though my newly aquired Sony DRU10 is pretty good for ordinary writing duties.

Well until recently I was a Plextor drive person. Still like the drives but I'm much more impressed with the liteon 52x32x52 hope I got all of that right I'm not home and at work. (just playing here on the net) but the liteon drive burns stuff that the plextor just doesn't do well with. My vote Liteon untill Plextor get a 2 or 3 sheep burner. By the way are there any 3 sheep burns avail.?

I have the Sony DRX-510UL, I bought this to replace one of my CDRW bruners that decided to check out. I don't think I could ever buy an internal one again.

i have both the liteon 52x and the plextor premium..the premium can do everything the liteon can and more, and its one hell of alot quieter! so my vote would be the plextor premium. though for the money the liteon is a great buy.

now find me a drive that copies securerom 4.8x discs and thats the next one ill buy biggrin.gif

LiteOn for me, never missed a beat or given me any trouble unlike Asus.
