If your talking about movies, any dvd burner will do as when it comes to dvds its the software that matters not the hardware.

Well Can you tell me how every movie I backup has a very small skip every so 10-30 seconds to it when I make an image file with my PA's DVD-ROM? He could just have a bad DVD-ROM?

Do you mean a skip in playback???

If thats the case then it could be the media used to burn the image onto. It could be the software used/ reading\writing spead. It could be your player, try playing it your computer does it do it.

Not just on playback and the original disc skips some in the DVD-ROM he has a few different players on there he had to download for certain movies and every movie does the same small skip every 10-30 seconds apart. Thats why I figured it was the hardware. And when I mount the image onto my computer it does the same small skip.

It might be the disk itself then, is there any players either your computer or standalone dvd players that can play the disk without any type of skiping?

Phillips is missing becuase they were not a real player in the game when I started this over 2 years ago. AFIK they still arn't but I could be wrong, I'm not saying they are bad drive so please don't take that from my statment.

I have never had any problems with Lite on - which is more than I can say for the last two Samsung Dvd +- drives I have gotten... They work fine now, but it was the first time I had problems installing an IDE DVD drive
