Hi

my little brother would buy an audio complement for his car, he was searching and a USA site was the cheaper, but... We are in Spain and we don't know muyc about laws... How muy he must pay in additional to recive it here? (sending + European/Spain taxes??). There are any insurance that all we recive is the correct material and no a fraud???

Umm personaly buying anything on line can be a risky thing, but its a risk you have to take yourself. i don't think anyone can give you 100% garantee that you will not fall foul of a scam, there are plenty out there, but if you can find out a little about the site you are ordering from, then maybe your safe, i know in America people can call back a credit card transaction, but here in Denmark if we order something on a credit card from another country we can not cancle the payment once its been made... so i would check with your bank before entering into any online transaction...

When purchasing anything online from the U.S. look for things like Bizrate certification or Trust-e certification. You can also check sites like the "Better Business Bureau" online.

Most things when you actually start to go through the ordering process tell you what the tax is that will be added and what you will have to pay for postage, and give you a final cost figure before you click the final order button.

I buy tons of stuff over the net all the time. I have bought from the US and Europe (I am a European resident btw). Twice I have had problems. The first time was with a US firm that never delivered the goods I ordered (the excuse was really funny "I am a handicapped minority and thus have not had time to process your order...". Hehe good one.... NOT!Apparetly he did have time to cash my check though. Anyhow after six months I got a refund after going to the Attoney General in that state. But it was a ton of hassle. Had I on the other hand purchased via creditcard I would have been safe as they would simply have cancelled the payment (not sure that is standard for all cards). The second time was a firm in Austira. They delivered some of the goods but not all. In the end I had to go to the European Consumers board to get that one sorted. This time too I paid by check. The moral of the story. Make sure you buy from well-known retailers and make sure to do it via creditcard ( not only might the creditcard company help you but you have better proof of purchase than by sending a check.). Another tip is keep all communication between you and any other parties, before involving any third party be firm but polite and make sure to somewhere ask them (the retailer) what course of action they suggest to solve the issue/problem. This might not win over the retailer but when you submit the communication to the third party it will at least show that you have worked for a solution and been polite. That will certainly help you. Anyhow just some thoguhts.
