I went to www.tomshardware.com the other day, I found a roundup on video cards both 4X and 8X.

This will definitivley show you what video card is the best bang for your buck, as a matter of fact, the graphs they utilize are built to show just that.

I have been running an Nvidia 4X Ti 4600 video card and I have never had a problem with a game, to include Call of Duty. I can turn everything on, and the fps is excellent.

In addition, I remember seeing that you are able to purchase this particular card now, for a measley $60.

I assume, therefore, that if you have $150... wink.gif

All best,

P.S. Why does my signature make me look like the Alcohol Forum Rookie that I am?

I've got a question now. Since I bought my new graphics card I am selling my old one. My old one is a CARDEX GF4 MX440 64M W/TV DDR*. I have a kid at my school that is willing to pay $50. Is that a good deal that i should run with or turn it down. Please help me on this one BigTy, zamiel, or anyone.

if you find a buyer you need to go for it. if they do reaserch they will see for a few dollars more( Dirty Harry movie) they could get a 9200 that will do better than that card.

PS. MM As for your 4600 im not saying you cant play the games. BUT i know your not running 16x12 everything maxed and hitting GOOD frames. thats just crazy talk there boy i tell ya. I had that card overclocked about two years ago. Star Wars tests my system and its nothing ot sneeze at. 2.8 oc to 3.45 gig of ram. Corsair LL. with a 9800pro. and i know your not even doing FSAA.

I don't know where those options you are speaking of are...

I am playing, currently, Call of Duty. I do not see the options in that game for those fancy setting 12x something or other... what is all that?

So, I am missing out by using just a 4X AGP Nvidia GeForce Ti 4600 128MB DDR?

Please reply, I look forward to it.

Thanks.

My mainboard, an ASUS P4S8X, states only to use 1.5v 8X AGP cards, and not to use any in the 3volt range. Do you know if that poses a problem?

Now I'm the one asking what card should I get... laugh.gif

4x and 8x is the rate the the card talks to the board. FSAA is what takes the blocky look out of the picture. 1600x1200 in most games. i think COD only goes up to 12 something. i have to check when i get home. your card is ok. dont get me wrong. but thats it its ok. If it works for you then keep it by all means. don tupgrade beuase of when anyone says. but if your in the market. then what we need to know is how much you want to spend.

The only 3v cards you would have to worry about are 2x only AGP cards that weren't fully compliant with the 2x standard (which was the majority of the 2x cards). But all 4x/8x AGP cards are the correct voltage.

I've played COD at 2158x1800ish with no AA/AF. (the latter normally have to be forced in your vid card control panel, but sometimes appear in advanced graphics options in game like Max Payne 2 allows you to set AA). 1600x1200 with 4/16 looked v nice and was still smooth.

OK this is a bit juvenile I know, but if you right click on your MP2 shortcut and select properties and make sure the target has this in it: "c:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Max Payne 2\MaxPayne2.exe" -developerkeys -screenshot where c is the drive you have the game folder installed, you start the game then use "page up" and it will cycle through various models instead of the standard Max until you come to nude Mona. Enough said. :tu:
