Please post your impressions here i was midly suprised it found 4 possible spy softwares classed 2 as severe and two to be ignored with a description to the program to help deciede what to do with the found programs.

I have all three running with no problems. MS seems ok....it does allow you to save your internet explorer settings. It is free at the moment but don't think that is their future plans. It found one thing that adaware and s&d did not

Nice one Robbo, used the MS spyware app, it found severe threats that ad-aware and spybot missed. The three work fantastically together as well.

Conclusion

QUOTE
Though still in beta, Microsoft AntiSpyware was able to detect more infected files than the current leading anti-spyware applications in the market today, Ad-Aware and SpyBot S&D. AntiSpyware’s user interface is better looking than both SpyBot and Ad-Aware, not to mention much easier to use than SpyBot. Though Microsoft AntiSpyware was able to use better detection than both Ad-Aware and SpyBot, there is still the difference of cost between the three. Ad-Aware and SpyBot offer great performance for free, yet when Microsoft debuts its AntiSpyware application, it will require a subscription fee. Is Microsoft AntiSpyware really worth the subscription fee when there are currently good spyware removal applications out there that will do it for free? My answer to that question would be, if you can afford the fee, it is absolutely worth it; however, if you chose to use Microsoft AntiSpyware as your spyware removal tool, you will still need to run other tools such as Ad-Aware and SpyBot.

this is taken from the test between MS AntiSpyware vs Ad-Aware vs SpyBot over at Flexbeta many thanks rob for the heads up and link .

Well I broke down and tried it and it did find two on my system. One was a trojan too. So it seems to work pretty nice! I wonder what they will charge for this?

i do like the fact that it takes offence huh.gif , the first time you run it, if you do not have IE as your default browser. wink.gif

and the way it thinks certain peer-to-peer software Installers (not the actual program) is a low level threat rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif

If you have MSN Messenger Plus installed its also considered as evil, though you can ignore it. Otherwise its a pitty they're going to charge for it as it should be apart of their OS in the first place in my opinion.

It may be added into the new OS once they get it more complete. It will probly come with a free 1 yearsuscription then afterwards charge out for it.

Great all youll need is your 10 gig of ram for longhorn and your 4 ghz processor. I had longhorn on this machine about 4 or more months ago and man was it ever power consuming. So i just unistalled it and deleted the uninstaller and setup files because theres just no use for it unless you have a 4 ghz P4 with at least 1.5 gig of ram.

Havent ran anyspware progys in a while so i decided to test out this new one. First I updated both ad-aware 6 and lavasofts spy bot search and destroy as well as spyware blaster. I ran both ad aware and spybot first and found only one new spyware... which was found by ad aware, spybot said no threats were detected. I then downloaded and installed this program (MS Antispyware) and ran it. It detected over 141 spywares and 22 high to sever risk problems. Im just about shocked and the only way I can think it found so many more was that if found the quarantined files from Ad Aware 6 but inono. If it did find all those extra ones on its own then im shocked to say the least. And Im highly considering using this program even if it means paying a monthly/yearly subscription.

@2005
Did you update to Ad-Aware SE? Or did you just update the definitions for Ad-Aware 6? That makes a huge difference. And were you running Spybot 1.2 or Spybot 1.3?

actually it was ad aware 6 and not SE.. i didnt know what to make of SE so i stuck with 6, looks like im moveing to SE. And i only have 1.2 spybot, guess i should update that engine as well.

I guess thats why i had 140 some total and 22 critical or high risk ones.
