So yeah, I've goofed. I deleted the username and passwords for the "control connection" in the shared drive options, and now any time I try to open the share options for my virtual drives, I get an Access Violation error: "Access violation at address 00000000. Read of address 00000000."

Beyond that, I'm also having trouble successfully sharing drives. I had initially changed the username/password for the control conneciton, thinking it had to be my Windows username and password (which might be my problem.) I'm using the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator version 2.03. I tried to follow the instructions exactly as the FAQ concerning this states (slightly different as the 2.03 version of the iSCSI Initiator is different than the one presented in the FAQ), and I couldn't get it to work. Authorization would fail, or something like that (I can't remember the exact error, and since I have the above problem, I can't reproduce it yet.) I tried setting CHAP settings for both one-way and two-way authorization, and it still didn't work. One thing of note: I was trying this on one machine to test it. That is: The client computer was essentially also the server computer. Does this have anything to do with it? The firewall is open for the correct TCP port, as well. I'm hoping you can help me set up sharing as this would definitely be a selling point for me to buy your software (at least the 52% version if not the entire 120% package).

Please assist, and my system report is below. Thank you.

Try deleting the Starwind-related key from the registry.

Which key? The "Alcohol StarWind" one under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Alcohol Soft, the "SecStarWind" one under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Alcohol Soft/Alcohol 120%/AddRemove/Components, or the "Alcohol StarWind" one under HKEY_USERS/xxx/Software/Alcohol Soft? And beyond that, am I supposed to delete the entire thing, or just one of the values within it? I don't want to remove the wrong one or render my program invalid by messing up the registry.

Try deleting the first one( which is the same as the third since in fact the HKEY_CURRENT_USER key is the HKEY_USERS/xxx key that corresponds to the current user), this will probably do the job.

Now it pops up a box stating that the Username and Password are incorrect, but when I click OK on that dialog box, it opens the sharing drives window. "test" and some password are in the boxes now, but none of my drives (physical OR virtual) show in the shared drive list. I've tried restarting Alcohol 120%, too.

After this is resolved, I still would like help on setting up the iSCSI protocol so I can use these images and drives on my laptop machine, too.

Since your problem isn't solved try to delete the other registry key also. In case you can't use the iSCSI service anymore just reinstall Alcohol.

Okay, that seemed to work. Do I just leave the username and password values for the control connection as they are, or change them to something else?

Now I just need assistance in actually setting up a virtual share over the network....Hopefully one that works this time. I can't seem to get it to work, even with your FAQ (which is now slightly outdated).

Please help me, as this would increase Alcohol 120%'s usefulness for me!

Have you tried again in the way the FAQ describes( preferably using a username and a password different than the Windows ones in case this had caused the problem)?
