I was told by friends of mine that Alcohol 120% is a great program.
So, i decided to test it and to purchase it if i find it so.

The problem is that i am unable to install the latest trial version available.

My system is Windows XP SP2, updated with Windows Update.
It is brand new installed, i mean i have no other apps installed in it, Except Acronis True Image Workstation and Acronis Disk Director.
I get the following behavior :

Setup asks me for a reboot before it will be able to install Alcohol.
After the reboot the installer restarts itself, but it asks again for a a reboot to allow installing.
And the loop runs forever

Thanks in advance for your help. please.gif
Regards,

Have you tried removing Alcohol then installing the latest SPTD version (http://www.duplexsec...om/en/downloads) after rebooting try and re-install Alcohol.

Remove the SPTD with the "sptdinst-v139-x86 remove" command in the command prompt and install it again with the "sptdinst-v139-x86 add" command in safe mode.

Could you try and install SPTD layer directly and see if it reports any error message you can see how to do this from the FAQ on duplex secure site here http://www.duplexsecure.com/faq/ if SPTD says you need reboot too then remove r0 key in SPTD service and re boot. also locate and remove HKLM\Softwared79c293c1ed61418462e24595c90d04 and then re boot, then try installing Alcohol

Thanks for your help.
I have solved the problem by restoring my "naked" XP (backed up with Acronis True Image) and by installing Alcohol BEFORE installing addionnal apps and drivers.
For a really weird reason, this runs well.

in fact, manually installing sptd causes vista to be unable to boot, or even go into safe mode. I've had to do a system restore from the disk 3 times! Seriously uncool. Also, the forums here won't allow any new registrations. Also uncool.

The latest version of Alcohol installs and runs in Vista fine so I assume there must be something else conflicting it.

Have you disabled your virus checker when installing?
What other burning applications do you have installed?

The forum does not allow new registrations simply because it is now customer focused. In other words to get access to the other parts of the forum you must be a customer otherwise you have to use the trial forum.

Which version of Alcohol are you trying to install which version of Vista are you trying to install onto, are you upgrading to Vista from an earler OS.

The more information you can give us the easer it is for us to offer a solution
