I am unable to create a multiple virtual drives when running Alcohol 52% FE.

When I ran the program for the first time, I received this message:

"DLL could not detect miniport driver - driver is either not installed correctly or some system conflict prevents driver from loading."

Every time I run the program, I receive this message:

"Loading Alcohol device drivers failed! Emulation options and native driver interface of Alcohol 52% will not be available."

The program tells me that I have 2 physical drives, and 0 Virtual drives, which is not the case. I have 1 physical drive, and I can successfully mount images and have them work properly, which leads me to believe that I have a virtual drive. But Alcohol says otherwise, and will not allow me to create any.

Hopefully this post was clear. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Your system report was removed by admin.

Please be sure that you disable any real time antivirus software you may have running. If you have "spyware Doctor" by PCtools installed please disable this

Please uninstall any Alcohol version you may have on your system (if you are unable to do it normally just browse to Alcohol folder and delete all files) and then uninstall SPTD layer.

To uninstall SPTD Layer drivers you will need to use SPTD installer/uninstaller, you can download it at following link:
http://duplexsecure.com/downloads/
After uninstalling it pease restart Windows.

Now please run regedit.exe, then browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ and delete sptd key (you may need to adjust cfg key permissions to delete it). Also please browse to c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers and delete sptd.sys file. Restart Windows.

Now reinstall latest version of SPTD layer driver using the installer/uninstaller you downloaded from DuplexSecure site, then restart Windows again, and now reinstall Alcohol.

Thank you for the response.

I followed your directions, but now I cannot install Alcohol. When I click the "I Agree" button to accept the license agreement, I receive this error:

"Internal setup Error. Contact support."

I don't know what I should do now.

I was able to install Alcohol, and it worked correctly while in Safe Mode. (It showed physical and virtual drives correctly).

I then booted into Normal mode, and started Alcohol, only to find that I again have the problems that I mentioned in my first post (2 physical, 0 virtual drives).

Thanks again for your help.

Well, I have a resolution of sorts. After doing more research, I found that the combination of Alcohol software and ZoneAlarm Extreme Security can cause this problem. I downgraded from Extreme to Internet Security Suite, and everything seems to be working well.

Thanks again for the help.

Yes, it sounded like something may have been blocking the SPTD driver from starting. Some third party firewalls or virus checkers have known to do this previously.

I have the same problem with with my ZoneAlarm Extreme rather than downgrade , I found that that if you end the iswsvc.exe process in the task manager and
then open up alcohol 120% the virtual drives will show up and Alcohol can be opened and closed repeatedly until you reboot. The iswsvc.exe will re-initiate after
a few seconds of ending its process.but alcohol will perform correctly.Hopefully ZoneAlarm will fix this bug in a later update. Thanks for the technical support and
this Forum for getting me running again.

This is a known problem. Untill it is fixed by either Alcohol Software or PCTools (who are the one that cause the problem) you can just close Spyware Doctor when you want to use Alcohol.

To bdjohnson.

I have had exactly the same issues when attempting to install "alcohol120% retail version”. After a lot of frustrated efforts I resorted to reformatting my Hard drive and reinstalling XP Pro. I then installed all my programs leaving Alcohol until the last; regrettably it made no difference the best position that I obtained was an installation that failed to load the "emulation drivers". I don't know of any other software that is this difficult to install and if ALL software were as problematic as this we would end up chucking the lot away. The irony is that I know of a number of people who are using different version of Alcohol 52% without any issues ironically they are PIRATE/###### copies!

Earlier this year I managed on one occasion to complete a successful installation HOWEVER all that turned bad when I went online and updated to the latest version. It causes a loss of confidence in the product.
So I ask the question what is going on with the programmers at Alcohol when they seemingly cannot make this a SIMPLE procedure!

Dave at Alcohol as I believe tried to resolve this installation issue and I am now in communication with him as of today.

Hope you have had better luck since posting this problem!
regards,
Metranone

There is a minority of the users of every program that have troubles with installing or using it. It might be a conflict with some other driver/program, a problem of the system itself e.g. corrupted memory (that was the reason for my recent formating of my desktop) or a corrupted installation package.

That is a real mistake. Since you have problems with Alcohol you should install it first, check if it works allright and then install your other programs one by one, checking the status of Alcohol after each installation, in order to find the conflicting one.

And please control your temper. You have your problem and it is surely unpleasant, especially if you are a purchased user, but this things just happen- and you surely know it. So, if you are about to yell at people who try to help you just give it a second thought.

Im trying to restore an exchange box Just to test your software and Im following the directions word for word. In step 2 it says click the START RESTORE button and I have my server name correct and I type in a TEMPORARY LOCATION FOR LOG AND PATCH FILE and check the two boxes and after I click the OK Button. I have a message saying.....

Unable to create the log path. Check to make sure that it is a valid path.

I have tried a few different paths and drives to put this log file to. So I cant restore anything...

Some help would be great....

Alchol doesn't restore anything as far as I know. Are you sure that you talk about Alcohol? If yes, which version and what are you trying to do exactly? Also:
