Hello Together! smile.gif

I've been using Alcohol 52% for quite long time. Now I'd like to purchase 120%, but I still can't comprehend one thing regarding SW installing through Alcohol.
I'm working on user account with limited rights (Vista HE, non-administrator, UAC is enabled and won't be turned off). Each time I start Alcohol 52%
I'm forced to give in my administrator password and then, when I install certain SW, it will be installed on administrator's account.
Is it the same with Alcohol 120%? Could I set Alcohol so that I can use it as a "normal user" smile.gif ?

Many thanks in advance for your reply!

What do you reffer to with SW?

I beg a pardon, do you mean how I use the SW? I've made some copy-images with my own games and programs. Now I wanted to install them through Alcohol 52% on my new installed
OS. But firstly, as I told, Alcohol always requests password when I start it, and secondly - after installing of the mentioned images, I'm also asked for password - as it never was before.
So, what I wanted to know - if I'll buy Alcohol 120%, will I be able to use it with not-administrator account without necessity to give in admin password each time?

Thanks in advance for your support!

With SW you mean the StarWind service? I still can't understand what exactly you are trying to do. Can you be a bit more specifiic?

Sorry, but under SW I simply meant SoftWare - not StarWind, any SoftWare from my own images (programs, games).

So, is it principally not typical, that I'm forced to use admin password? Again - I'm using Vista SP2, UAC and user account with limited rights.

Thanks!

Oh, I see. wink.gif Which version of Alcohol do you use? Did you install it as an administrator? What is the exact message that you get when you start it and when installing from these images? Have you tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling it (don't forget to reboot before the reinstallation)?

What do you reffer to with "before"? Did the problem appear at a particular time? Can you give some more information (e.g. you installed something and then the problem appeared)?

I use Alcohol 52%, downloaded and installed in February 2009, 1.9.8.7612 (free version) - have just reinstalled: no effect. And yes, I was "forced" to install it as an administrator - when you double click on *.exe it is requested to give in administrator password - I didn't click with right mouse click to chose "run as an administrator". So, request to give in my password is the only message I receive.
With refer I meant that the same programs, installed previously without Alcohol 52% didn't request password to be started. But now, after installing through Alcohol 52% and their images they do.

I don't have Windows Vista personally but it must have to do somehow with your system configuration. Alcohol has special plugins for dealing with UAC, there must be a related Alcohol service in your task manager, if there isn't or it isn't active then this may be the cause of the problem.

Thanks, Charalambos. But as far as I'd like to purchase "life time" Alcohol 120%, I'd really appreciate to find out before the names of these "secret" services and plugins and how to set/treat them to make Alcohol work correspondingly, without password giving in. Otherwise (unfortunately) it doesn't make big sense to buy it sad.gif, but I really want to..

Thank you in advance!

Well, in Alcohol's installation folder there is a folder named "Helper" which contains the files AxSrvUACHlper.exe (Alcohol Service UAC Helper) and UACHlper.exe (Alcohol UAC Helper) but I don't know more. Can somebody of the Support Team or the Development Team help in this case?

I found these files, but unfortunately executing of them didn't change anything. Should I create another one thread for Development Team especially?

Thanks.

No, it isn't necessary, they can read this one. In fact I've reported this problem so as to look into it when they can (they are too busy this particular time).

No, legality issues with copyrighted software and generally speaking, not many have a 700MB mail box.
