I've been using Alcohol 52% on my Windows 7 laptop for a while and the shell integration has worked sporadically at best but it seems to have stopped working completely now (since updating yesterday). Double clicking to mount the image never worked, but the option in the context (right click) menu has disappeared as well now. Can anyone help me?

Additional information:
I do have ImgBurn installed, but I have file associations disabled and I installed Alcohol after ImgBurn.

The double clicking to mount an image works only in Alcohol, not in Windows Explorer. Have you tried reinstalling Alcohol?

Ah, that explains why double click never worked (whoops). I have reinstalled twice since the right click options vanished but to no avail.

Can you try installing Alcohol alone without ImgBurn? Do you have any other relative programs e.g. DaemonTools, Power/Magic/Ultra ISO installed?

Ok, solved it! I'm going to post what the problem was in the hope it'll help future generations (or at least the next person with the problem I had).

The problem wasn't actually ImgBurn in itself, but it was that there was a file association. Uninstalling ImgBurn did work, but it was because that cancelled the file association. Because I'm using Windows 7 I had to use a utility to remove the association (after reinstalling ImgBurn).
I have the forum set to notify me of responses to this topic, so future people reply to this topic and I might come back to help you.

I used a utility called unassoc 1.4 to remove the file association from .iso, .mds and .mdf files (and whatever other image files you use). If this doesn't work, I can only assume your problem is caused by a different thing than mine.

Same problem, eyeball226. (My unhelpful post is over here.) Thanks for posting your fix. :)

I've also found that setting the "Open with..." program to Windows' Disc Image Burner restores the "Mount" context menu.
Curiously, setting to Alcohol does not. (I might add that Alcohol's shell extension options have never worked!)
In the past, installation of new version of Alcohol would also restore the context menu. (Un/reinstallation does not.)

I just wish Alcohol and ImgBurn would get along and play nicely! (I'll try to contact LIGHTNING UK! of ImgBurn.)

P.S.: I actually sent a system report within Alcohol and haven't received any reply. (Hotmail, checked SPAM.)

Specs:
Alcohol 52% FE 2.0.1.1820
Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (UAC off)

Which version of Alcohol are you using?
