I have a problem. If Alcohol 120% 2.0.3 FE (build 7612) is installed on Windows 10 x64 I can't any more wake the pc from hibernation, it shuts down during startup. After that I can normally load the Windows. Hibernate mode works fine if Alcohol is not installed. Checked on 2 different laptops. All drivers are up to date.

That's something for the Development Team to have a look into.

Same issue for me with Alcohol 52% on Win 10 Pro x64, but with Windows 10 fast startup enabled (which uses hibernation file).  After a shutdown, booting will result in a hang and then power off with no obvious error messages/BSOD.  I have tried this on two different PCs, and it occurs only after installing Alcohol 52% (latest version).

The same to me: Windows 10 x64 shuts down during startup (few seconds after start from hibernation). After that I can normally load the Windows BUT all virtual images are unmount. Previously (on Windows 7) no such problem.

Please try disabling fast startup for the moment.

That will work, bur it is not an acceptable work-around.  Boot times on non-SSD PCs are much longer without fast startup.  There is clearly a defect (most likely with the SPTD2.SYS driver) that needs to be resolved in order to be fully compatible with the capabilities of Windows 10.  Someone did not test thoroughly...

You can also try installing SPTD 2.04 from www.duplexsecure.com.

Thanks. Problem with hibernation mode was solved for me after update of this driver.

I dad already tried 2.03 and 2.04 (current release of Daemon tools uses 2.03) before my original post.  All 2.0x versions exhibit the issue, and both Alcohol 52% and Daemon tools installed on clean systems produce the same issue, which makes it rather clear that SPTD2.SYS is where the issue lies.

If it is so you must wait for the next SPTD version (not a product of Alcohol).

Dear Sir,

I am still facing this issue with alcohol 120% 2.0.3.7612 FE.

When I switch on the window 10 x64 laptop, it gets shutdown unexpectedly within 03seconds during the startup process. I switch on again windows loads normally without any corruption. However error information message appeared in the event viewer saying crash mini dump file created as bellow.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000007e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff800afdc3604, 0xffffd001b331c0d8, 0xffffd001b331b8f0). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\Minidump\102515-22796-01.dmp. Report Id: 102515-22796-01.

I have attached dump file fyr.

Why do you believe that this is caused by Alcohol?

I don't believe that issue caused only by alcohol. However dump file shows that it should be SPTD driver crash.

Temporally I don't use the alcohol and SPTD driver has been disabled changing reg entry until coming fully compatible version for windows 10 or proper technical solution.

And you don't have this problem anymore I suppose. I think that you must wait for the next version too.

Really I don't have this problem once I disable the SPTD diver by Windows 10 registry entry. I expect that fully windows 10 compatible edition will be released soon, hence I love alcohol. It is superb program and very useful for me.

Hello Charalambos, I've got the same problem with Alcohol 120% on WIN10 64 bit.

Maybe it's possible, that Alcohol is taking contact with Duplex-Secure for asking, how long it would take to the next driver update?

Best regards from good old Germany :-)

I don't know if this is possible, I am just a volunteer. Anyway DuplexSecure will probably release a new version of SPTD sooner or later.

We are aware of this problem, as a workaround you should just disable fast startup for now, as Charalambos said above, and wait for a new SPTD2 version to fix this problem (or a new Alcohol version, as we will surely release a new version including the new SPTD2 version). We are sorry for the inconvenience, we are in contact with DuplexSecure about this problem and we really need to wait them to fix it.

Duplex Secure has released a new SPTD2 version 2.05. but boot time spdt2 driver cash problem is not fixed on windows 10.
