Hello All
I've just installed Alcohol 52% and am having some conlfict issues with a previously installed unregistered Alcohol 120%. Basically A120% will not uninstall. I've read all the FAQs and nothing seems to work.
Please advise. How do I do clean uninstall of A120% and clean install of A52%.
Your help would be much appieciated.

To manually remove Alcohol, please adopt following steps:
1.run "regedit"
2.Find "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{E9F81423-211E-46B6-9AE0-38568BC5CF6F}", then delete that.
3.Find "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\32418F9EE1126B64A90E8365B85CFCF6", then delete that.
To uninstall SPTD layer, you will need to download SPTD installer at following link:
For 32bit operating systems:
http://85.17.36.30/S...st-v125-x86.rar
For 64bit operating systems:
http://85.17.36.30/S...st-v125-x64.rar
Then please move it to the root of your C: drive and run "c:\sptdinst_xXX.exe remove" to remove SPTD Layer driver and reboot.
Note: you can not install Alcohol 52% on the same PC as you have Alcohol 120% installed you need to uninstall Alcohol 120% from the Alcohol 120% folder in C:\PROGRAM FILES\ALCOHOL SOFT. be sure that you have unmounted any images from virtual drive.

As it happens, I have tried the "manual uninstallation" but was unable to locate the second registry entry in the "HKEYS_CLASSES_ROOT" though I did manage to locate and delete the first entry.
Also, could you please advise which "bit system" would be relevant for my system.
Regarding your note, I currently have Alcohol 52% installed alongside what seems to be the remnants of the previously installed version of Alcohol 120%. The virtual drives and images I set up for instance are still there and functioning. Unfortunately, I can't unmount the images because I can't get into Alcohol 120%. I can't get in because the trial period has expired. I can however get into Alcohol 52%. Can the images be unmounted from Alcohol 54%? I've been exploring this and it doesn't seem possible.

If that's the situation then you must uninstall Alcohol 52%, clear the remnants of the Alcohol 120% installation according to the guides given by Phoenix( just skip anything that you can't find), reboot and then try to install Alcohol 52% again.

you really should know if your os is 32 bit or 64 bit yourself. its somewhat scary that you dont...
open the control panel, click system and it should say something like 'Windows xp 64' if its 64 bit, theres other detection methods, but unfortunately im not at my 64 bit pc at the moment to double check things

I've just come across this extra bit of registry to delete (http://forum.alcohol...showtopic=20874)
It's a bit ambiguous. I've located a347bus and a347scsi; do I delete the WHOLE thing? I'm hesitant about doing this without being entirely sure.

You should have no problems deleting these entries and removing the driver files from the directory as these are only related to Alcohol.

Thank you for this. I've made some progress! The virtual drives and mounted images have gone! But the registry files are presumable still there. I've managed to install A52%. So I wonder is it any harm in just leaving the registry entries there?

If it doesn't appear to be causing problems with Alcohol 52%, then it should be fine. Keep in mind that it's possible those keys could later be used by copy protections to blacklist the virtual drives, even if you stay up-to-date.

This is impossible. What exactly is your OS? If you really can't find the key displayed as a standalone one in your registry editor then look for the HKLM\Software\Classes one, it is in fact the same key.

Maybe there's a confusion (possibly on my part) about terminology. I can locate "HKEYS_CLASSES_ROOT"
but I am not able to find the relevant Alcohol entry.
Does this clarify matters?

If you can't find the key then it simply doesn't exist anymore, so you have nothing to worry about.
