Sorry, if you sent it to the support_team@alcohol-soft.com then sorry, I don't have access to this address.

What error message do you get when you try to delete it? Have you tried to delete it in safe mode?

Hi Zamiel,
So far I've deleted all SPDT and VAX files from windows System driver folder and the registry, I've also disabled SPDT changing value from 0 to 4. Send me an email address that I can reach you directly and I'll send you that NTBT log I was able to get (gott by having windows boot with boot logging, couldn't get a mimidump though. Other burning software I have installed is latest version of CloneCD, Exact Audio Capture, and EZCD Creator.

If Nuno has already looked at the log there's probably not much point me looking at it sad.gif

Could you try uninstalling all burning / cd creation applications and installing Alcohol first?

Hi Zamiel,
Uninstalled all of them then tried to install the 4521 demo again with no luck. Luckily XP setup a resore point before I started uninstalling so I was able to get them back without having to go through lengthy installs. Any other thoughts? would really like to give this new version a shot, as wellas being able to use later versions. would hate to have to be stuck using 4327 forever even though it is a good version from what I've seen and backup success rate so far.

Ps one thing I won't do is format XP and reinstall it, LOL (just too much trouble there even though who knows it would probably work although would totally scream if after trying to install it as the first program after my MB drivers it didn't work AHHHHHH!!!!!

Guess I'll wait for this one till I absolutely have to format as my computer is working great other than for this issue. Is there really much difference between 4327 and 4521 anyway? Also I read somewhere about possible conflicts with 4521 SPTD and Nvidia Nforce MB drivers. Have you heard anything on this as my MB uses those drivers.

I run an Nforce board with 4521 installed with no problems. Of course, I'm running x64 and do not install the IDE driver (nor do I suggest anyone else do so). As for the difference, the SPTD layer has been updated to remove some blacklists and fix some issues, mostly pertaining to Vista compatibility however. It's all in the changelog.

Perhaps you should try to uninstall these drivers to check if it helps.

t is the problem with the nforce IDE driver and how do I get rid of that driver (thought I had to install all of them). So does this driver just apply to the disk drives? I'm also not running 64 bit so does it really matter if I install 4521 or not? Also is 4521 compatible with Win 98 SE as I saw it is in the system requirements? I have a dual boot system Win XP Home and 98SE.

In the device manager rightclick on your IDE controler, choose "Drivers" in the properties tab and click on the third button that says "Go back to the previous driver" or something like that( I have the greek version so I don't know exactly). You must do the same with your primary and secondary IDE bus if other drivers than those that come with Windows have been installed and this "Go Back" option is available.

No, from version 1.9.5.3823 and on, only Windows 2000 and up are supported. 1.9.5.3105 was the last version to support Windows 98/ME.

Some users have experienced issues with particular driver sets whereas other users have not. Try to downgrade your drivers and see if that helps.

If you go to install another driver set, it should also ask if you want to use the NVidia IDE drivers or not. I would suggest No at this point in time.

All drivers say Microsoft generated generic so I guess I don't have the Nforce ones installed. If I don't intend to get Vista for at least a year or more (maybe 2-3 till games start not recognizing XP and I don't have 64 bit is there much difference between the 2 versions other than 4521 giving support to 64 bit and Vista? Also as tere seems to be problems relating to this any chance of a patch or new vwersion without the new SPTD?

New versions of Alcohol and SPTD that will address the last versions' problems are expected to be released rather soon, you can surely wait until then. smile.gif

Thanks Charalambos. Hopefully this new version will install without the problems I've had with this one which I still can't install. Any idea around when the new version will be coming out?

hey, i am having the exact same issue, clean install of win2k3 with o2k3, fully patched, then installed alcohol 120 l8est version, installed fine, next reboot onwards, os options screen & reboot automatically again. cant get into safe mode even if i choose esc on sptd.sys .
so could not try anything from above, last known good config doesnt work, windows repair from cd also has not helped. fully formatted partition and installed win2k3 again, not putting alcohol now, will wait.

Well I just downloaded the new version trial and apparently the problem still exists. I still got that can't run with kernel debuggers and the system started that continuous boot thing again. Any thoughts? I thought the new version was supposed to address and fix this problem.
