Battlefield 2142 - the image mounts without error. When it runs, the autorun starts and it looks just like it does when I put the real DVD in the drive. I click PLAY NOW and I get the error telling me I need to insert the disk into the drive to play the game. I don't know where to go from here.

Battle for Middle-Earth II - I get disk read errors when trying to create the image.

I left all the default settings for both ("Customize" DataType, etc.).
System Info is below. Thanks

1) There are no datatypes for DVDs, what settings did you select?

2) Those read errors are normal, just let them pass through.

1. I left all settings as default. I didn't realize I needed to set anything specific for DVD's. I read that 52% supports DVD's. What settings do I need to use?

2. The image creation is taking a really long time due to the errors. It was only at 1% after 10 minutes so I assumed something was wrong. I guess I'll leave it overnight and see what happens.

Thanks!!

You will need to obtain DPM for SafeDisc protected DVD's.

Again, I'm new...

Do you mean I need to check the Data Position Management checkbox? Do I need this for both games? Thanks again.

Yes. When prompted select High Precision with a Maximum Read speed.

I'm assuming your BFM2 is on CD, so no, select the SafeDisc 2/3/4 datatype.

Ok, I redid the BFME2 image and mounted it. It pulls up correctly, but now I'm at the same place as with BF2142... When I click on "PLAY", it tells me to "insert the correct CD-ROM".

FYI - I used the Image Making Wizard, Custom DataType.

I'll retry the BF2142 image again later using the SafeDisk datatype. Thanks

Remember also to install the game from the virtual drive?

Zamiel, I suppose you meant to say "You will need to obtain DPM for SecuROM protected DVD's."

I'm assuming so, as DPM is not required for Safedisc on DVD.

Well, I redid the BFME2 image and tried to install from it, but that didn't work. It locked up around the time it would ask me for the next disk. I am giving up. This is too much work. I wanted to save time with this endeavor, not waste it. I would need to do lot of disk switching to make up for the time it will take me to get this functional.

Thank you all for your help.

When it asked for the second disc did you shoot back to Alcohol, unmount the first disc then mount the second?

Sounds like you didn't install from the image file. No worries, if you feel comfortable playing with the registry (regedit), then open the registry and do a "Find" on Battlefield. You're looking for an entry called "InstallSource." Simply change the Drive letter to the one you've mounted the image file on.

Just to let you know I tried that and still no dice with the same problem. Do I have to restart?

Try to use an antiblacklisting program like SR7 Stop or pr0t.st0p.

not sure if this is a SecuROM game, but if it is i can offer good advice.

new SecuROM requires you to have all your optical drives disabled in device manager. very newest SecuROM from a week or two ago goes even further and requires you to uninstall all optical drives from device manager.

daemon tools is no longer blacklisted by the newest versions of SecuROM, not sure about alcohol.
