a347bus.sys is from pre-SPTD Alcohol, version 1.9.5.3105. That version is NOT compatible with Vista. You must install the latest version, 1.9.6.4719 instead.

I just installed 1.9.6.4719 inot Vista Beta 2 build 5384 and I am getting an error on starting Alcohol saying that it is incompatible with the operating system.

This is from Microsoft and it was present untill Vista RC1( if I remember correctly), untill then Alcohol had been rather not combatible with Windows Vista yet. Why don't you use the retail version of Windows Vista- officialy compatible with the latest version of Alcohol that you installed?

Are all Alcohol versions compatible with Vista consumer release?

Only versions of Alcohol with SPTD are supported in Vista. If you installed 1.9.5.3105 or any earlier version, IT WILL NOT WORK. Also, we only provide support for the current version, which is 1.9.6.4719 at present.

Yes, not only will it not work, but Vista will not even BOOT if you DO install the wrong version.
I think the people who *HAVE* made this mistake are aware that this version will not work with Vista, now they are looking for a way to fix their installation of windows with out having to completely reinstall windows Vista.

Since after installing this infamous 3105 version vista blue screened right away, and then it blue screens everytime you start up --- even in safe mode.

So using the info in this thread, I booted Vista business edition using my cd. When I got to the install screen, I selected the repair link at the bottom of the screen.

I then went into the command prompt and did c:\
Then I did
dir a347bus.sys /s

Which located the file @
c:\windows\system32\drivers\a347bus.sys

I then changed directories to cd c:\windows\system32\drivers and then renamed the a347bus.sys file (rename a347bus.sys blahblah.bad) and then I was able to boot windows.

It did give me some errors about needing to reinstall some software drivers etc etc, but it allowed me to get in, and uninstall alcohol and then it seems to boot correctly from here on out.

I also had the same issue with Vista Premium after installing an older version of Alcohol with the Blue Screen and not being able to boot into windows. I booted off the Vista install dvd and there was an option for going back using a previous RESTORE POINT. Worked fine, and at least I didnt have to reinstall everything...

I'm having similar problems with Alcohol on Vista. I tried installing v 1.9.5.3105 on Vista (i already had the installer already on my harddrive. bit of a mistake looking back at it ¬_¬). But it crashed at some point during installation. Now if I try and boot Vista, Vista starts looking for drivers and then crashes. I can't cancel this or anything. And I don't have enough time to uninstall alcohol. If and try and boot up in safe mode, Vista crashes before it gets up to the point to look for drivers. No luck with last know good configuration, either.

I tried doing what was suggested in NeilGs post. But i can't find the file a347bus.sys. Is there a similar file from v 1.9.5.3105 that I should remove in order to get into vista to uninstall Alcohol? I'd rather get Vista working without having to reinstall. =)

Thanks for any help. =)

The same exact thing happened to me! Here's what you do:
Insert the vista installation cd and boot from it
Then enter repair
Restore to earlier point

Hello Phoenix, I am a customer, (and am just waiting for my account to be created), I have upgraded from XP Pro SP2 to Vista Ultimate, and also find that the Alc120 Device Drivers failed to load, what is the resolution for getting 120 to run on Vista?

Gryphen.
