Virtual DVD drive is missing

I'm giving the Alcohol 120% trial a try, but can't get the virtual DVD drives up and running.
I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 with no other CD burning apps installed.
"SCSIVAX DVD/CD-ROM SCSI CdRom Device" shows up in Device Manager under "Other Devices" but will not let me install a driver for it. I can't assign a drive letter to it in Alcohol or through the windows storage manager interface.
I've tried installing Alcohol with and without SPTD 1.42 x64 installed and ended up with the same result.
Any help in getting this program to work would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I pointed it at cdrom.inf and it still wouldn't pick it up. Windows keeps complaining about not being able to find a compatible driver.
It's a bit confusing because this line:
%gencdrom_devdesc% = cdrom_install,GenCdRom
Should cause a match to occur, but it's not happenning.
I even tried adding to cdrom.inf so that there are lines that cover the other ID strings for the device, but not of them are coming up with a match for some reason... Windows keeps insisting that it can't find a compatible driver for the device.

Hmm, I haven't tried that yet... are there instructions posted somewhere on how to accomplish this?
Thanks.

start Regedit navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, LowerFilters and delete them.

Hi Robbo, just tried this option... there were no LowerFilters items in there.
Any ideas on what to try next?
Thanks!

Please goto Start -> Run and execute "regedit.exe" then search and delete the following key:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SPTD
then delete HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\sptd
(If needed you may have problems deleting the second key, if yes then delete the file c:\system32\drivers\sptd.sys and reboot. Then, after reboot, run regedit again and try to delete the second key again, if you continue unable to delete it you may need to set full access permissions by right clicking it and using permissions function).
Then try to reinstall Alcohol.

I got bored last night and tired of dealing with Vista 64 and it's annoying signed drivers requirement so I wiped it and installed Vista 32 in its place.
Alcohol happy installed and configured a virtual drive on Vista 32 without having to mess around with anything.
Now all that I need to get working are the context menus.
No Alcohol options appear when I right click on image files (iso, cue, etc). I set the virtual drive associations in the Alcohol settings so that they're associated with these files, but the menu options (right click) still won't appear for some reason.
Any ideas on what to try?

Do I need to uninstall Alcohol first in order to upgrade my SPTD?

I've had the same problem with shell associations in Vista after installing the "faboulous" ATI calatyst software. I have a feeling you have that installed also...

No, you don't. I don't know about the ATI catalyst software but if you have it installed try uninstalling it too and please let us know if it helps.

Actually, I'm running nVidia cards in my system. I think it may be a more general problem with Vista?

Updating to SPTD 1.42 didn't solve the problem.
For some reason I still don't have any alcohol options showing up in the context (right click) menus.
Aside from the missing menus, alcohol seems to be working (virtual drive is there and manually mountable through the main program)... but it would be really nice to have the context menu working.
