Try booting into Safe Mode and run setup, or disable any anti-virus software that could be interfering with the installation. Alternatively, you could download the standalone SPTD 1.47 from Duplex Secure and run it manually before installing Alcohol.

I have the same problem, tried the above in safe mode I get restart every time. In safe mode the setup does not restart on its own, but still prompts me for restart. I am running the most current version 5403.

Please help I am dying to get this going and have tried everything.

Using Vista x64, ran as administrator.

It appears as though the stand alone SPTD 1.47 installed fine, the Alcohol 5403 is still stuck in the reboot loop in regular and safe mode as administrator with no antivirus running.

Could you please run regedit.exe (using Start -> Run) and then browse to HKLM\\Softwared79c293c1ed61418462e24595c90d04 you should have an "r" value, please delete it and try to install Alcohol again.

I searched for that string since I could not follow your path beyond software.. and did not find it. I assume the stand alone installed correctly since it gave me the notice restart for changes to take affect and I received no error on my next boot. However Alcohol 120 is giving me that reboot every time I run it during the SPTD part of the installation. Reboot to continue installation.... every time.

Thanks for any help.

It certainly seems to be SPTD related, i suggest you contact their support here http://forum.duplexs...e.com/index.php they may be able to offer a solution.

Make sure ANtivirus Software is off.
Uninstall all software using SPTD layer (e.g. Alcohol, Daemon Tools), open registry editor (execute regedit) and go to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\sptd
change the Start value to 4 (disabled), and reboot.
After reboot delete the whole sptd key in registry services hive. If you get error message about permissions enable all permissions on cfg key first.
Reboot.
Execute 1.42 (or above) stand-alone installer then to install SPTD, reboot, then run 1.42 (or above) installer again. If it says no SPTD version detected, do NOT install Alcohol etc., we've to ensure correct SPTD layer installation first.
If r0 key exists after reboot, delete it (in sptd key).

This fixed my install restart loop problem and there are many many posts with the same problem.

This fix should definately be a Sticky for Vista.
