ok i have been copying my game cds onto my computer b/c just trying to find a disc gets to become a hassle that is why i do this but i have one game image that doesn't want to play in a virtual drive it will let me install from it but not play the game from it it says that make sure the install cd is in the drive in order to play. but the thing is that i had it working before i formatted my computer i just copied the image file to my external hard drive to save me time from needing to make another image. and i have done this before i formatted the computer and played the game from it as well for 2 months with no problem.
iso/mdf files not working

What is the game you are having problems with and what protection exists on the original?
Were you using any form of blacklisting removal previously? If so, try downloading YASU and using that when playing from the image.

the game is Battlefield 2142 and i use Spybot search and destroy it has a blacklisting software in it

The blacklisting I was referring to is the copy protection detecting the presence of Alcohol or SPTD on your system and then failing to authenticate the disc as an original. Spybot to my knowledge blacklists / removes malicious Adware / Trojan programs. I recommend trying YASU when playing from the image.
What settings did you use to make the image? Is it a DVD or CD version?

dvd and i tried YASU and couldn't get it to work i even tried to find the spot i'm to place the yasu.exe and couldn't find that either

You simply need to run YASU when playing the game.

but it says it cannot find daemon.dll and/ dtpro.dll an that i need to place YaSu.exe in the daemon tool directory

ok i have tried everything you guys have told me to do and none of it seems to correct this problem. meaning a game i was once able to play with out any special treatment to get it to work with alcohol 52% is now like trying to get through the great wall of china is there a way that you guys know that doesn't involve installing another applicatiion as an addon for Alcohol if not then say so

when the disc is in the drive i can play the mds file from the virtual drive but trying to do it by it self doesn't work and i tried DPM and remove the disc from the drive after the game has started up

here is an update for you with no disc in the virtual drive it reads that there is and i'm using the disc that i had bought explain this and tell me how to fix it b/c now i can't even play the game i enjoy play and don't send me a link that gives my nothing i have no disc in the virtual drive only in the physical drive and it says please make sure your install cd is in the drive

I'm sorry, but I can't quite understand what you're angling at. Are you saying that the original disc no longer starts the game up?
If you are, it definately seems like a blacklisting issue. Other users have also experienced this with BF2142, whilst other users have got it going. Some have got it working on external drives, others have unplugged drives and some have written the image out to dvd and have got it going that way. As with all SafeDisc protected games, it seems to rely squarely on the hardware.

i've gotten the physical disc working again i can now play off it. But i still would like to get it working off the image i have made still giving me the please make sure your install disc is in the drive can you explain to me in more depth about blacklisted and my hard ware is fine because before i wiped out my system I hard no problems running the image now it is just getting to be a hassle i hate to be hunting for discs and worst find out that the disc you need is so servely scratched you can't do any thing with but to toss it

Perhaps your image isn't very good, try remaking it at the slowest possible spead( by the way DPM has nothing to do with Safedisk).

I have made 3 images and none work and the one image that did work that i copied over to my external hard drive before formatting the hard drive on my computer and it wasn't working after the format explain that to me and you still haven't told me more about black listing in depth

Sorry, I'm not going to go in to the ins and outs of copy protection blacklisting, needless to say I gave you a brief description of what it actually is in one of my posts above.
I would assume that something has changed in your system once you re-installed, beit a program that might have aided you in defeating the blacklisting or now an additional program that the protection is detecting that is causing the blacklisting.
Patching a game to the latest version can also introduce a new version of the copy protection scheme so an image that once worked before, no longer does. Its a circle.
Have you tried to mount and play the image from your external hard drive rather than your internal one?

Could you please try using an external drive as zamiel suggested and let us know if you have patched the Game, if Blacklisting is the problem then you will need to wait till YASU or Alcohol are updated.
