For users installing on Windows 7 and also using F-Secure They will have to turn off Advanced process monitoring under Deep Guard. It will not allow a new install with it running. Also with newer Versions of F-Secure you may have to completely disable Deep Guard.

If you have any problems with Alcohol and use Commodo Firewall such as the Internal Setup Error during the installation also after installation then make sure that you only choose Firewall in the settings not the firewall with optimal or maximum protection.

I have exactly the same problem with version 2.0.1.2003 under Win 7 64-bit - I'm using Comodo Firewall v5.0.163652.1142, and have disabled everything (I even tried uninstalling Comodo Firewall to install Alcohol 120) - still shows the same installation error. It throws up the error just after the "Accept Terms" page.

Any other ideas?

Please download and run the following tool:
http://forum.alcohol...s/sptdremov.exe
After removing SPTD from your system and restarting Windows as requested by
the tool (you may need to reboot twice in some cases, the tool will tell
you) then please try to reinstall Alcohol again.

If you continue having problems please try to temporarily disable (or even
uninstall) your real-time antivirus, firewall or any other security software
and try to install Alcohol again. We had some reports recently of conflicts
between SPTD and latest versions of ZoneAlarm, Spyware Doctor and PC Tools
ThreadFire products.

If you have ZoneAlarm then it is most probably the cause of the problem,
even disabling it will still cause problems with SPTD, you need to either
uninstall it or manually disable it's ForceField service.

You will need to go to Start -> Run and execute "services.msc", then stop
"Zonealarm Forcefield" service, alternatively you can also try to kill
ISWSVC.EXE process on Windows Task Manager.

If you have any problems with Alcohol and use Commodo Firewall such as the
Internal Setup Error during the installation also after installation then
make sure that you only choose Firewall in the settings not the firewall

I have exactly the same error.

Internal Setup Error. Contact Support

I had Alcohol52%FE and it was working. I made an update and everything was still OK. The problem appeared after installing Adobe Creative Suite CS4. Until that moment I can't mount any disc image (I haven't got even an entry in right-click-menu), I can't upgrade Alcohol, I can't even uninstall that application. Earlier everything was working. As I sad - everything started after installing Adobe Creative Suite CS4. I have tried several times (after recovering from partition image made in Acronis TrueImage) and each time was exactly the same. This is not a problem with antivirus or firewall.

EDIT:
I am using Windows 7 Pro x64

I have found out that problem might be with a security applications. In my case the problem was with Comodo IS. Try to:
1. add folder C:\Program Files\Alcohol (or C:\Program Files(x86)\Alcohol) to exceptions in your security suite
2. Copy alcohol installer to this directory
3. Start install from that directory

Ok... I am having this exact same issue... I have been unable to install your product (after I purchased it :( I've used your software in the past and knew I wanted it on my new system (new at the time I purchased your software). I have Norton Security Suite (free software that Comcast offers).. Its kinda like Norton360. I also have ThreatFire installed... I disabled both. Actually, I disabled/exited almost every single program running in the background. I set Norton anti-virus & firewall to "disable" permanently. That way I knew it wouldn't be reactivated after rebooting. This didn't work. So, I used your SPDT uninstall program. That worked and it asked to reboot. Upon rebooting I was able to run your software. This is the farthest I got so far. I got past the accept terms page and it installed your own SPDT software and then wanted to reboot and said it would continue after the reboot. My system rebooted, and Alcohol install software loaded again, but this time I got that same error again. All the software that I mentioned above was still disabled. I am really getting frustrated with this. I have yet to get this to work. HELP... Thanks, a Registered user... Paul

You may need to uninstall ThreatFire, just disabling it may not help. Not sure about Norton 360.

Thank you for letting me know, our development team is working on a workaround for this problem, a future version of Alcohol should be able to coexist with Comodo without these problems.

Hello,

I've had the same problem on my new Acer Predator 3610 desktop PC (windows 7) and, since my previous PC, also on Windows 7, never had it, I checked the differences between both and found the cause : It was the software Spybot Search & Destroy 2 (beta 4) that I had installed.

It took me some time to find it because I first try to simply stop the Spybot S&D service, but that was not enough to solve the issue, you really need to uninstall it completly.

Hope that will help some other Users. I'm also going to report the issue to the dev team of Spybot S&D hoping they'll fix this incompatibility.

Mmmmm... I have the last SpyBot (not beta) in Win 7 starter and there are not problem. Alcohol 52% and SpyBot S&D work perfectly.

I first installed Alcohol and then Spybot. (See SpyBot > Tools > Resident > Tea Timer - uncheck de box)
