Drives I to P http://forum.alcohol...com/efm/i-p.htm

Drives Q to Z http://forum.alcohol...com/efm/q-z.htm

please note: The tick signifies what your Drive supports.

Alcohol 120% - Can correctly encode EFM
Alcohol 50% - can almost correctly encode EFM ( Bypass EFM Errors may need to be used depending on Safedisc Version )
Alcohol Free - Cannot encode EFM

Please Note: Liteon Burners below the LTR 40125S will/may have problems with Safedisc above Version 2.8 due to the MediaTek-Chipset used.

Please Note: Burners marked thus * will fail the Safedisc 2.51 Test when this is burnt using maximum speed when a slower burning speed is used these Drives will then pass the Test.

Any Drives missing or incorrect contact support_team@alcohol-soft.com.

Disclaimer
Please note the Drives listed here have been found using various Sources in Internet, it is possible that a Drive may be listed as EFM capable or vice versa when the opposite is the case as we physically do not have the means to test all Drives.

There are Drives listed as EFM capable please note that this is correct upto Safedisc Version 2.51, above this it is possible that many of these Drives will have problems making a successfull copy.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To Test if your drive is EFM capable. Download the following file EFM_Test.zip at the bottom of this post and extract them to a folder.
To create a test file double click on one of the batch files and follow the prompts.

What the files are;
weak_sector.exe The actual test file creator
sd2old.bat Creates a test file to check if a writer gets at least one sheep
sd251.bat Creates a test file to check if a writer gets at least two sheep
bad.bat creates a file containing bad patterns. Many 2-sheep writers will fail
sheep_3.bat creates a test file (over 400 MB!) which contains all weak regular patterns. A writer which passes this test deserved 3 sheep.

You can burn multiple files to a CD. You can also use a re-writable CD. You need to write the dat file or files to a CD and then try reading them back to your hard drive.
You can burn the dat files with the program of your choice. I use Nero. Remember to burn in Mode 1, not Mode 2/XA!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Nero.

Click "file" and then "new". If the wizard opens then click "Close Wizard". put a check in the "Start Mulltisession disc" Click on the ISO tab and place a check in the "Mode 1" Format The mode 1 format is particularly important.

Now click the "new" tab to take you to the "drag and drop" section. Drag the dat files to the CD directory.

Click the burn button and then the appropriate write settings.

Once the burning is complete then you're ready to try to transfer the dat file back to the hard drive. The process is more accurate when reading from a Toshiba DVD ROM, but if you don't have one dont worry.

If the transfer copies across successfully then you have passed that test. (MODE 1 was important for that to work)

If you get errors such as;

"Cannot copy sd251: Cannot read from the source file or disk."
or
"Cannot copysheep3: Data error(cyclic redundancy check)

Then you're writer has failed that particular test.
