Is it surely a DVD-RW? How did you try to erase it?

Click on CD/DVD Manager in the Alcohol's main menu (on the left) and then click on Media Info and copy and paste here the media information.

Media Type:DVD-ROM
Failed to get media manufactures information from inserted media, the reading capability for this operation depends entirely on the selected drives capability.

Can you check the disc information with another program e.g. Nero? Maybe it is really a DVD-ROM (does the disc has "RW" written on it) and e.g. you put it in the wrong case or it is an old one and can't work as RW anymore? The disc information from another program would be helpfull.

- Are you sure you are selecting the correct drive?

- Do you have any software that may prevent apps from reading media ATIP information? Some CD/DVD emulation softwares do it to avoid game copy protections from identifying backup disc's as recordable media, then they emulate it as non-recordable CD-ROM or DVD-ROM disc. Alcohol itself haves such an emulation feature, you can control it at Options -> Emulation, however even if you have it enabled (Ignore Media Type) Alcohol itself should not be affected if you also enable "Launch "CD/DVD Manager" without "Ignore Media Type" function" option also at emulations. Anyway as last try you may also try to disable Ignore Media Type and try again to erase your disc.

- You may also try on erase wizard to select "Ignore incorrect TOC..." and "Re-set booktype of DVD media if possible" options, if you didn't tried yet.
