I have used both recording methods when i rip a CD and I can't tell the difference between them.. It is my understanding that the lossless codec, that Windows Media 9 untilizes, is just that. It's supposed to give a mirror image of the audio being extracted from the CD itself (mathematically 'lossless' recording all the way up to 1075kbps), but I'm a little skeptical of this claim. Reason being, the size for each track when I rip to hard drive using Alcohol 120%, is substantially larger. I'm guessing this would mean more information being extracted vs. the "somewhat" smaller files that the lossless codec writes.
Comments, anyone??
