why not mount them in the virtual drive from Alcohol then you can run it so to say from your harddrive.

In Alcohol rightclick the virtual drive (AXV CD/DVD-ROM) and click "Mount Image" then just just select the mds file and u have a virtual drive with the virtual cd / image on

Well in general is there a way to make an image from just an mdf file without the mds file? I bought alcohol and i would like to know if this is possible. And since i did buy this program i think i am entitled to at least know what it can do.

No. The mdf file just contains raw data. Mds file contains how this data is formatted. Imagine a partioned hard disk except you don't know anything about where/what each partion is. Same problem here.
