In a comparison of encoders, where would Ice Alcohol fall? I use TMPGENC to encode a MPEG2 video stream on a 1.3 ghz Athlon and it takes 16 hours. Mind you, this is two pass VBR at 2350 kbps for a 86 minute movie with High quality motion search, Floating point precision, and macro block softening. I'm told CCE does it faster but I don't have the knowledge or the patience to set up all the frame serving and other junk needed to use it. If Ice Alcohol can reduce the time and maintain the quality, I'm all for it.

i just converted a dvd that was ripped to my hard drive using smartripper to a vcd. the movie was over 2 hours in length and it only took 7 hours for the conversion and burning to 2 cds using the beta of ice alcohol. the quality was excellent, as good as anything i ever got with tmpgenc. i have a p3-800 with 768mb of ram. it usually took over twice that amount of time in the past.

be patient, the trial version will be available soon. smile.gif

Iluro80, I have a day job. smile.gif

I can set it up before bed and have a movie after a 10 hour work day. That's roughly 18 hours that I'm not at my computer. Might as well make it work for me.

Well, one month untill my military service is complete.. Then I'll have money for a new computer..

That'll be a XP2400+, 512MB DDR RAM 400Mhz, ASUS A7V8X (RAÌD, SATA), 2x80GB HDD (striped in raid)

I think you'll get behind me in encoding-time then Iluro80 tongue.gif
