I give CloneCD and Ollie all the respect they deserve but to blast Alcohol and the dev team is uncalled for. Both programs do a great job at what they are designed to do. If you like Clone, use clone. If you like Alcohol (like myself), you use Alcohol.

Alcohol did this ages ago.
It is still nowhere with SecuROM 4.8xxxxx.
Alcohol is a more alround complete piece of software.
You decide which you prefer. I know my choice.

People seem to forget that when CloneCD first come out there were problems with this and problems with that, updates were coming at a rate a 3 a week... hell in the time Clone has been around you would have thought they should have all the answers along time ago.. strange that they come up with them in the wake of Alcohol is it not
Emulating securom*new* does Clone actualy do this now... we all know Alcohol could do it weeks ago ... do we need to say more
wow bulk,Iluro80 we must all have been typing at the same time

This thread smacks of Groupthink which is undesirable for experienced users of burning software. I suggest everyone stop getting their nickers in knot and concentrate on objective testing and advice. I have a dozen pieces of burning soft apps and I like them all in their own different little ways. Smabbage's post is immature for a public forum - the post is nothing zealous- and netman is capable of avoiding the same childish behaviour. I don't particularly defend any piece of software for no good reason but I refuse to see fallacy argument surround developers attempts at improvement and any site's attempt at promoting itself.
I have already spoken to development about my lack of posting given the lack of problems with Alcohol 120%. It's a fine piece of software made fine by development's attempts to tailor it to the backup fraternity. Remember that DiscJuggler beat SD2.80.010 before any other piece of one-stop-shop-software. If padus.com put their mind to it, they'd probably beat the Twin Sector problem hands-down. Don't gloat, whinge, whine or complain because what goes around comes around.

I read your post with interest, but find i have to disagree with you to some extent, this section of the forum is "OFF TOPIC" where people can discuss what they like within reason, i do not feel that any of the posts made were unreasonable, it was just people expressing there opinions...
Cdfreaks has a huge following and is seen by many as the window to the CD-R world and at most times remains unbiased which is a good thing, but it does also allow its members free speech
In this thread on Freaks http://club.cdfreaks...?threadid=59428
Olli's own words.
Also hypicrital posts such as
posted by the same person who made the 2nd comment in my post
And posted by yourself
Martin no longer works on Fantom CD and no claim's need to be made, those that use Alcohol know what power it has and what it is capable of doing and not doing, those that prefer to use CloneCD will do so regardless of any claimes made by users of Alcohol.
CloneCD as i said has been around for along time, and Alcohol is still in its infancy The latest version of CloneCD in my eyes is not "Revolutionary" and i see no real improvements in the latest release over what Alcohol can already do. but thats just my view
As i said this section of the forum is "Off Topic" and views expresed here do not nessesarly mirror the Alcohol development team's views or opinions.
Its a place to let off steam and post your own views regardless of what they are, its not a forum to start slagging or flaming anyone for there opinions,

I'm working as systemprogrammer for 20 years now. And I know CCD, BW, Alcohol and a lot of more burning software. But I bought my Alcohol 120 few weeks ago because it works well, fulfills my needs and it a living piece of software. I'm glad that I bought it. It works well on all important copy protections (with a virtual drive). I cam mount my *.mds / *.mdf files from my 99 minute cds. Works fine and is as good as a true 1:1 copy for me. So why do people always complain about this ? I think the future will be in emulating the newest protection in a virtual drive. You can mount this from a 99 minute cd after you tried it from your hdisk. And if people like or prefer other solutions / software like ccd or bw, so it's ok. I compared the available software and decided me to buy alcohol.
I'm satisfied with my choice. And I'm waiiting for the easybuild feature of Alcohol and also for Ice Alcohol.
Greetings
Alex

If anyone is to be labeled immature it should be GrefdigGloner for his comment. It was what he said and how he stated it that set me off.
[QUOTE] hehe what have i allways said ?
BTW the people who have said that alcohol is better must now return using their ######, till they die in their fucking coasters

Opinions are all about personal experiences/preferences etc. so you really shouldn't get worked up.
Especially when someone is idiotic enough to think it is reasonable to say CloneCD is the best, better than all this other software, and THEN admit to never having tried any of the other software.
