Thanks guys for all your help on all of my questions. My plextor can go to 94:59min. I think i can get things to fit in that. I decide to go here to get them: http://store.yahoo.c...99-minutes.html
i ordered a stack of 25 99 min cdrs that should get me started.

I appreciate this group. Its a good group and I will definately hang out. I popped into t he Micro$oft xp support sites to get a little help with my audigy issue I'm having and was ATTACKED by all of those pasty white geeks that never see the light of day. And i was in the newbie section none the less! Oh well experiences like that make good times in groups like this all the more awsome! Thanks again and I recommend this group and this software to any and every one I see. Thanks! biggrin.gif

Well this is a good question, I brought some 90min cd a while back and I know that the later Liteon's do support this! but I was using Nero and its messy.

I haven't tested it with Alcohol, but CDRwin 5.0 does and it does it very well, when you are just backing data up from your hard drive its simply tell you you require a min of a 90min cd, ie your burner needs to be able to over burn.

I am sure that when the pre mastering section of Alcohol is available that this option to select disc size will be included. Whether a drive can write to CD-R 90 and CD-R 99 media depends entirely on the positioning electronics of the CD burner. so they are as you pointed out totaly hardware dependent. If your drive does not support overburning then this will not work for you.

Currently, blank CDs are available on the market with a capacity of up to 990 MB. Standard CDs with the CD-R 74 format have a capacity of 650 MB. On the other hand, CD-R 80 media can store a maximum of 700 MB. Both media formats can be processed by all CD burners. It is a different situation with blank CD-R 90 and CD-R 99 discs: They hold a maximum of 800 and 900 MB respectively, or 90 minutes of music and 99 minutes of audio data respectively.

Software presently capable of using these disc's include CDR Win 4.0A and NERO Burning ROM 5.5. However, media written in this way can only be read in the same drive. As a rule, standard CD-ROM drives cannot recognise special formats.
