I have Asus A7V, Windows XP Pro SP1, latest creative driver for SB 1024
(slot 3 PCI), but when I play a mp3 song with WinAmp (or other player mp3)
the sound is distorted, with TEK TEK etc.....
Same PC, but in another partition I have Millenium and when I play mp3 there
are no problems.
Mp3 songs are in the same partition.

Any idea?

Install the latest VIA 4in1, enable DMA for all drives in Windows, set-up the bios settings correctly...

Ehm....done, but I have the problem yet.


I think the problem is around here:

PCI Read Caching ENABLED
Delayed Trans. disabled
PCI to DRAM Prefetch ENABLED
Byte Merge disabled

Found it: last driver for Promise ATA100 2.00.39 is bugged.
I have installed the driver from XP disc and it's OK
