Hello,
I make a lot movies on my compter, and when i want to burn it, i use my father's computer. But most new software require a DVD burner, witch i don't have (on my computer).
So maybe it would be nice to make a virtual DVD/CD burner witch allows you to burn virtual dvd's (dvd-images).
This can be handy in many stuations. like testing.

greetz,

Patrick

Alcohol cannot decrypt CSS encrypted DVDs (Most commercial movie dvd's use this protection)...

You can do this with DVD Shrink + DVD Decrypter (Both free software)

IM only about 80% sure of what you want to do and it cannot be done.

For one the only way to produce physical backs would require a physical burner of the type of disk you intend to burn.

Secondly I dont know why people would want an "immage" burner, the result would be the same as a immage.... it wouldnt and couldnt ever be physical. You can use alcohol to make virtual immages of dvds/cd's that would accomplish the same thing.

Thirdly if your worrying about the burning failing you can always simulate it on drives that support it.

And lastly the only way your going to burn a dvd on your machine (or even simulate burning for that matter) is to install a dvd burne, or use your fathers machine.

Moving to Development For Future Versions, although this has been mentioned before and I believe the answer was that at the moment it is not planned.

I think you are talking about emulating a cd burner.

I would really like this functionality - emulating a burner so that other programs think they are writing to a cd, when they are actually writing to a iso (or some other format)

something like the "original cd emulator" www.ztekware.com

I think it would be a great feature for 120.

Thanks

It's interesting how many people can't understand this question.
I've been reading other forums and those people are brainless.
They will give you dumb alternative answers. Prepare for a headache.
People here seem to understand the idea at least.
At this time there is no such program that pretends to be a cdrw,dvdrw,
in a fake drive. And honestly I'm not sure why. It wouldn't be hard for me to
program one. I probably could use the daemon tools driver and just tweak it;
and make a program that would write data to a file similar to how CDRWs write data on a CD. I'm sure there are many reasons why someone would want that kind of a program. Versatility being the most apparent one.
http://www.geocities.../hodonkain.html is my website, if I ever find such a program and it is freeware or shareware, Ill post it on my site.

I don't understand why the concept of a virtual burner is so hard for people to understand.

Some programs will let you burn directly to CD or DVD but not allow you to create an image instead. So a virtual burner will show up acting as a real burner and all it really does is create an image instead.

Why would anyone want to do this?
Well as ArmyBoy stated, he doesn't have a DVD burner on his system but he can create his video and would like to make a DVD image and then network it to another PC that does have a burner. And this is just one reason why.
What about making an image once and then burning that image to several disc without having to waste the time to burn it first, then ISO it and then burn it as many times as needed.
And I'm sure there are more, but I think I've made my point.

@RAS1187
Read more closely. He's not coping DVDs. He is making his OWN movies and wants to ISO them instead of burning because he has no burner.

Well - as Alcohol doesn't currently do premastering anyway - he'd be better off with an actual premastering software like Nero.
