Hi Everyone,

I was having a problem with the Sims 2 University Expan. Pack.

I made an image and mounted it to a drive but when I double click the icon I get an "insert disc into drive and retry".

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

How did you make your image (settings, speed, etc...) ?
Did you check with A-Ray the used copy protection ?

Hi again!

I made it with safedisc 2/3 at a max write speed.

I used a ray scanner to see what sort of copy protection was on the disc.

didn't change any other settings...all are default...

This is a two disc set.

thanks!

look for two options under emulation, the first should be "Ignore media type" and the other would be "Bad Sector Emulation". Make sure both are turned on. If they are then it could be the copy you made might be bad, you can try to turn the write speed down try 12x or slower. Also which version of safedisc is it the exact one, and silly question, but you have the cd version right?

Hey there...

It's the CD version not the DVD version. Those two options are turned on. The funny thing is that it worked when I was installing the software. The game installed from the image files but won't run from the image file.

safedisc 4.00.01 is the version!

Thanks for the help!

Did you install from the virtual drive or the optical drive?

Remake the image, try a lower read speed like 12X for starters.

You should also read the post on avoiding blacklists as I believe SD 4 blacklists Alcohol's virtual drive.

If you're running Windows XP, try the following instructions. If you're running Windows 2000, do the same but use regedt32.exe and select permissions from the menu bar. If you're running Windows 98/ME, then I don't know what to tell you. There is also a unnofficial blacklist fix in the Customer Only forum provided by NARS, but it too only works for XP/2000. To gain access, you must own a registered copy of Alcohol, then check this stickied topic.

QUOTE
SecuROM/Safedisk registry blacklist fix
1. Goto Start -> Run and type "regedit.exe" (without " ")
2. Brose to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 2" (The port number may vary, look for the key that lists a347scsi)
3. Right click on this key and select "Permissions"
4. Select the "Administrators" group
5. Set the Read permissions to "Deny"
6. Click OK and close the Registry Editor

*EDIT*
Forgot the instructions biggrin.gif
