Argggg...... My computer monitor took a dump! I am using a little 14 in one for now, but it is so hard to use!!! I had a nice flat screen LCD unit, but it just quit! I am going to buy a 19 in wide screen. Should be nice..... I saw one at Newegg for $200

I cant see paying for an LCD unless you do alot of digital photo/art work. My ViewSonic G90F is a nice very high res flat screen CRT.

Smaller, more portable (important to some), uses less energy, looks awesome (personal opinions may vary). That's why I use an LCD over a CRT. The size issue is the biggest factor for me. I just bought a new 19" by ViewEra for $249 on Newegg. Not widescreen, but it has 178 degree H/V viewing angle, 8ms response, 1300:1 contrast and a 6-month no dead pixel guarantee (plus they offer cross-shipping for RMA during the warranty period). The combination of the no dead pixel guarantee and the viewing angle clinched it for me. Where my monitor is situated, I look up at my desk to see it. With my old Hyundai 19" L90D+ (135 degree vertical), I had to rig an elaborate system whereby my monitor was tipped about 45-50 degrees forward suspended by a cable when I'm laying in bed looking at it. With this one, I don't even have to tip it a little. Very nice indeed.

Fairly high response time, the VX922 is 2ms (Fastest LCD at this point in time I believe). Though the MS for all LCD's is not a true reflection as most average higher. No DVI?

Yeah, DVI and approx. 4ms reaction is a must for a gamer monitor. The SyncMaster is really greath.

This viewsonic CRT does great... its flat screen and size isnt an issue for me. Plus for 225$ it can go up to 1920x1440, which I usually just play at 1600x1200 but yea.

Now thats a shame.... ( We need a smilie shaking his head in shame) closedeyes.gif sad.gif

I found out that Goodwill actually has an electronics shop in my city and they sell 19" monitors for $50. I have had 3 or 4, they all have lasted many years. I cant wait to get a LCD, but still need an upgraded video card before I get it.

Anyone got an agp card higher then geforce 3 that will work with BF2 and Fear for a decent price? please.gif

I could sell you my 6600GT for $80 (it was over $200 when I got it). Send me a PM if you're interested. For an extra $20 (paid $35), I'll throw in the Zalman VF700-Cu cooler I bought for it (otherwise, it's got the stock HSF on it right now).

Now that, really is a shame..

Using a ViewSonic P220f (CRT, 22") at the moment, going to change it to a 20" TFT within a couple of months. (new comp. ships this monday.. *yay*)

The reason for a 20" TFT is that I don't want to use a lower resolution than 1600*1200 when working..

AGP is dead man, upgrade mobo and get a PCI-E... it may cost you a bit more now but will save you in the long run. Any investment into AGP is kidna pointless.

Shhh, I've almost connned.....err, sold him my video card. wink.gif

Just kidding. While I do agree about PCIe being the future (although they're already talking about PCIe v2), you'll have to replace your board and - if you're not running a socket-939 processor - possibly the CPU as well. So it all boils down to how much money you want to spend.

Agreeded, but if you plan to go AMD then a 939 is your choice. They blew AM2 by not staying with 200FSB like they have always done... and make it alot harder for the non informed user to buy ram for his new AM2 CPU.

I've yet to hear of this PCI-E V2 yet, but with all the counter strike and day of defeat I've been playing I havent kept up on the technical side of the PC as much as I like to.

Huh? huh.gif

The whole point of AM2 was to support DDR2, which is the eventual replacement for DDR. And for the record, AMD hasn't had a FSB since the AthlonXP days. With an IMC (integrated memory controller), there is no more front-side bus to speak of. I can't see how they blew AM2 when it does exactly what it was meant to do.
