Afer I start to install alcohol 120 and 54, after it tells me to restart the computer, as soon as the windows loading screen pops up a bsod appears that says:
stop: 0x0000007E(4 other addresses here)
shield.sys - Adress F75C6FA9 at base F75C0000, DateStamp 448645ee
this happens in both versions (98/Me and other) of both programs
I also can't get the computer to boot up in safe mode

shield.sys isn't an Alcohol driver file. A quick Google search turned up nothing useful on it, either. Do you happen to know what it's from?

Try uninstalling this program and installing it after Alcohol, this may solve your problem.

In what way? If you have made any backups with this program won't they be available again after its reinstallation?

Sounds like you need to talk to the SysAdmin for your school about this. As it's not part of our software - and you don't think it can be removed - I don't know what else there is we can do aside from suggesting you remove the SPTD drivers to see if that gets you up and running.
