Hi there!

I can't create any Virtual Device using Alcohol 52. The program is installed properly and starts, but whenever I change the number of Virtual Devices in the Options Menu, I hear the Windows Sound for new hardware found and the program recommends to restart the system. Restarting and not restarting both lead to the number of Virtual Devices set to 0 again and nothing else happens. I tried some of the solutions in this Support Forum like reinstalling the SPTD-Driver (ver. 1.50) and deleting a value in the Windows-Registry which both didn't help. I had Daemon Tools installed, which could not create a virtual device, too, and always produced an error at startup, but I uninstalled it now, the device from deamon tools (that didn't work) however is still present. I used Alcohol 52 until today without problems until I installed the newest Free Edition Version.

Thank you for helping! rolleyes.gif

Please uninstall Alcohol
download the stand alone SPTD driver from http://www.duplexsec...om/en/downloads boot to safe mode and run and select remove. re boot your PC back to safe mode then run the installer again and install, then install Alcohol

Hi!

I did as you told me to (twice), but that didn't work either, I'm very sorry. Do you have other possible solutions?

I don't have such an option, most likely because the user I use is an admin at the pc wink.gif

Since it's XP, there should be an option in the context menu called "Run as".

Try uninstalling Alcohol and SPTD completely (make sure the directories are removed as well). Then reinstall SPTD 1.50 (I know it's included in the latest version, but just in case, use the standalone installer), and then reinstall Alcohol 1.9.6.5429 and try again.

I have this same problem I tried to uninstall Alcohol 120 it just keeps saying it need to reboot it's an endless loop, also I don't think SPTD Manual Installer is doing anything because it says it's not installed but when I click on install it says it need to reboot.

Please help

Try installing Alcohol or SPTD in safe mode.

What is logged in the event viewer?

Is your antivirus disabled?
