What version of Alcohol did you try installing?
Can you check your C:\Windows\ minidump directory for the existance of any minidumps?

I had exaclty the same. I asked for support from Alcohol team but received an answer not on subject as if the person did not know what he was talking about.
(and I described problem - "Well, it is BSOD which happened just after I installed Alcohol 120%. I cannot dump minidump file from the system because it carshes just after Windows Vista initialization. I can see main screen for about 5 secs and then update of the software drivers begins and it crashes a second after. I have brand new fujitsu siemens Esprimo with Vista Basic on it. I was wandering if automatic software update can be stopped and the uninstalling the alcohol or ...
I am open for any ideas.")
Well, my personal response to this situation was to cause a major crash while system was booting. After that windows started recovery and used last working backup, which was made before installation of Alcohol 120% Trial version. Now it works fine. Hope its of any help. Good luck, mate. Whoever you are... :-)

Booting into safe mode you should have been able to locate a minidump from a BSOD, I doubt the support staff dealing with you did not know what they were talking about, its possible you did not explain the problem exactly or the version of Alcohol you were installing, there are many factors that can lead to a crash during the install of a software, the same as there are often more than one solution.
Posting here saying that the person who you contacted did not know what he was talking about, is not constructive to this users problem, if you do not have a specific problem with our software or a solution for the persons question, suggesting that he cause a major crash on his system is not helpful.
I can see that a support tech has answered this user and is trying to ascertain a few facts prior to offering a solution, so I suggest you let the support tech continue with his job.
If you have a problem with any of the Alcohol support staff, or feel they have not conducted themselves in the correct manner then please feel free to email me at info@alcohol-soft.com and include any mails you have sent and answers you have received and I will look into the issue.

- restarting the system in all possible modes (restarting in safe mode was worse than in normal mode because it didn't even give me chance to look at the screen or do anything I know - it was showing BSOD even earlier than normal mode)
- while in normal mode, I was trying to uninstall Alcohol before update application started in windows background (update application was, i believe, the reason of BSOD)
- trying to end process of update in windows task manager
I agree its not professional but I am not a programmer - I'm just common folk. :-)
The advice I received from your colleague was:
1. Boot in safe mode and press ESC key when you see on bottom line of
display:
"Press ESC to cancel loading SPTD.sys". This will abort loading of SPTD
layer.
2. Open registry editor (run regedit) and browse to the following registry
key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\sptd
Change the value "Start" (DWORD) to 4 (i.e. disabled).
[To re-enable SPTD service change the "Start" value back to 0.]
3. Reboot again in normal mode and check if your issue is solved.
I did not go even through the first stage as there was no such an option available. I presume it should be common for safe mode to give such an option if your colleague gives the info about it - there was no option like this. I am not a specialist but apparently these are basics your colleague should know.
Tell me, please, if I am mistaken but to me there is no option as stated in point 1. Therefore he does not know what he is talking about.
I can see this support team member is quiet outspoken but I suggest to push alcohol for some useful answers to the pointed problem.
I am leaving the judgement of conduct in your hands as you surely have more knowledge on the subject than me.
By the way - how to get that mindump

Minidumps are located in C:\windows\minidump. Simply send your latest one to the support team.

Humm you never botherd posting all the mail you recieved either, by not replying to him he has no option other than to assume that your problem was resolved, so i dont know how you came to the conclusion he just wanted you to back off.
Alcohol uses a third party driver known as SPTD this driver is the most likely cause of your BSOD problem, the support tech was quoting directly from Duplex Secure who develop SPTD and i am sure they know what they are talking about.
I suggest you contact Duplex Secure http://www.duplexsecure.com/en/contact and follow up your problem with them.

Troubleshooting remotely without direct access to a system is a tricky business. And even more troublesome when doing it through e-mail rather than over the phone. The fact is, there are certain standard steps to take when trying to track down a problem. If one doesn't work, you move on to the next. Without being right there with you or talking to you on the phone, he can only guess as to the exact, correct steps to take and thus has to give you basic instructions and work from there. Without feedback from you to say it's not working, he can't take you to the next step.
*EDIT*
Stupid bug in the forum is breaking the formatting of my text. Apologies for the weird breaks, but I can't seem to fix it.
The fixed it

I have the exact same problem. I can't do anything, because I just don't have enough time to do anything on the desktop. The escape'ing trick didn't work. I'm quite desperate, and I didn't see a solution here, what should I do?? Did the starter of the thread get it fixed?
