I'm having similar problems with Alcohol on Vista. I tried installing v 1.9.5.3105 on Vista (i already had the installer already on my harddrive. bit of a mistake looking back at it ¬_¬). But it crashed at some point during installation. Now if I try and boot Vista, Vista starts looking for drivers and then crashes. I can't cancel this or anything. And I don't have enough time to uninstall alcohol. If and try and boot up in safe mode, Vista crashes before it gets up to the point to look for drivers. No luck with last know good configuration, either.

I tried doing what was suggested in NeilGs post. But i can't find the file a347bus.sys. Is there a similar file from v 1.9.5.3105 that I should remove in order to get into vista to uninstall Alcohol? I'd rather get Vista working without having to reinstall. =)

Thanks for any help. =)

The same exact thing happened to me! Here's what you do:
Insert the vista installation cd and boot from it
Then enter repair
Restore to earlier point

Please someone help me, I don't have any restore points. I can't use windows's uninstall utility as windows only gives me about 30 seconds before the BSOD. I can't find a347bus.sys, or any of the vax347bus variations... Advice would be appreciated

Why did you install a NON vista version in the first place.

Can you boot to safe mode, you should then be able to locate and remove the drivers

Vista was pre installed on my laptop, this means i also have no Vista cd that I can boot from. Safe mode doesn't start at all, it loads a few drivers (including vax347s.sys, which is what i want to delete) then I get the BSOD. In a normal boot, I can get into Windows where I have about 30 seconds before the BSOD. I can actually start regedit and find and delete vax347s.sys (and a few files that seem related by the prefix vax) but when I exit regedit and try to restart I get the BSOD, and upon the reboot vax347s.sys (and all the related files i deleted) are still there when you search for them in regedit.

If you can access Regedit.

1.run "regedit"
2.Find "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{E9F81423-211E-46B6-9AE0-38568BC5CF6F}", then delete that.
3.Find "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\32418F9EE1126B64A90E8365B85CFCF6", then delete that.

Then to remove Alcohol driver you need to go to HKey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services here you should find the Keys for the Alcohol Driver in version 1.9.2.1705, 1.9.5.2722 or 1.9.5.2802 a347scsi and a347bus, or in version 1.9.5.3105 vax347s and vax347b, delete these Keys and remove corresponding files from Windows\System32\Drivers folder.

Re boot your PC.

Do you have a restore CD that you could use as a last resort?

Hi Andy,

Our software has never been retailed in any PC world retail outlet, that i am aware of so i doubt very much that you purchased it from a bargin bin or any other location, however if you did and can produce the till recept and the disc i would appriciate you sending them to me along with the location of the particular PC world store so that our legal department could take legal action against PC world.

Please let me have the serial number supplied with your disc from PC world.

Hi Andy,

Sorry for confusion i did not buy alcohol software i downloaded it . It was nero that i got in gash pc world. I was looking for cd burning software etc and put loads of different trial free stuff on my pc to try out and its basically now a mess.
Is it alcohol causing the issue or nero?

If i reinstall vista will this resolve issue and what is correct alcohol version to use with vista. Is it only available to download as i dont have download access at the moment at work etc.

Many thanks

Andy H
